Seed shell stuck

I just germinated a new crop, white widow, gold leaf, blueberry auto, Super skunk, and several bag seeds. I have a few seedlings that sprouted with the shell stuck on the new leaves (colatanoids) on one of these i tried pulling the shell off and when i did it seemed to damage the little bsby. Now im left with a little yellowis ball that is not opening up. Its has been a few days nkw and still no progress. Can someone please give me some pointers or is this thing just trash. Also what csn i do in the future if this happens again....thanks this site is great for anything u need to kno, and also great to hear from fellow growers

Hey man. That happened to me as well. I pulled the seed off and ended up with white-ish yellowish embryo. I made sure that the "ball-ish" embryo was not covered by dirt and just let it get it self together under the light. Not a direct heavy light but more natural and soft light from CFL. Also kept it warm. It all worked out fine at the end. It became green and formed into leaf in a couple of days and opened up.

It depends on the damage you gave them if any. Mine turned yellow first then to green as it formed the leaf.

The seed/hull is not what's holding them closed usually .....there's a clear membrane/tissue ....forgive me I always forget the name .....anyways look very closely and you'll see the almost transparent membrane holding the little plant closed.......take a spray bottle and wet the seedling ....wait a minute or two then gently roll the membrane ((GENTLY)) upwards and off ........the seedling will open up pretty much immediately ....GL

This... yeah mine had it too after I pulled the shell off. It dried with light and etc. was easy to take off after.

I usually give it a drop of water to soften the seedshell and membrane and let them deal with it themselves. I think I've damaged more seedlings by trying to help them versus just softening the seed shell and letting the seedling shed it naturally. If it'll come off with a gentle tug then I'll remove it. Any resistance and I'll put a drop of water and wait it out.

Exactly don't man handle the baby .....mine usually roll rite off with a little moisture to help ........I also do a shit load of babies for all my grows and pop extras for my fuck ups ...lol.....but I usually don't hurt them removing it ......but it's possible to pull there heads off .....good point SF


Moisture is your friend removing this OP ....get that membrane fully soaked before you try .....it should take no effort/pressure to remove

Sweet this makes me feel much better. I thought she was a gonner for sure. And it was one of my seeds i bought online. Those fuckers sre not cheap. Thanks guys for the help!!!
And i did plant this directly in soil. Even waited a day or so for it to fall if before i tried takin it off. Now its just thst little yellowish lookin ball

That's not good if its a little ball. I have left the hulls on for a few days. It doesn't hurt them.

I plant knuckle deep with pointy end up. If it cant break a half inch soil and come out of its shell I don't want it.

The tap root makes a u turn as it comes out.

If planted right the soil forces the hull open and off slowly.

I do both ...paper towel just to see if the seeds are still live ....once I know the batch is good I just take my little wooden punch I carved while deer hunting one day and start poking and dropping em .....kiss method works great for planting seeds ......good seed,good dirt, some water and walla .......so how deep do you plant your seeds personally WB .........I could careless if anyone agrees or disagrees with you ....it's obvious your a successful grower I'm just curious ......I still get a few that get stuck closed I have to help when I go straight into soil each year ....but out of a number I don't wana admit ....let's say more than 4 ,,,less than 49,000......only a few need any assistance ...
