Seed issues

Hello everyone! So I ordered 10 white widow X big bud seeds from the attitude seed bank. Got a free sour diesel which germinated well but died because my dumbass put it in miracle grow soil, I now use peat pellets. 6 white widow seeds I also screwed up on in various reasons, I have 4 last resort seeds in which are germinating right now but I need some advice on how to not screw up this time and if I do than to re attempt or not, thanks

Knowledge is your friend. Spend some time on this forum and perhaps learn more about the plant itself. There are literally hundreds of threads on every subject. If you have questions about specifics, ask away.
By your own admission, you have killed 7 seeds. That isn't cheap. Don't waste the rest. You don't say your method so can't help much with that.
I love to help people learn about growing but you have to learn the basics about growing a plant.
Learn to to grow it, then learn how to grow it well. Growing your own is a wonderful feeling.

I killed something like 40 plants back in day. All kinds of good stuff. Most from starting hydro. There's been plenty in soil. Cooked a bunch.

It's all the process. Once you get it down. It's too easy. You'll get there.

Put the seeds in a glass of tap water in a dark place for 24 hrs
Soak a folded piece of paper towel with the water and squeeze 50% of the water out.
Put the seeds between the folds and into a zip lock back but done zip it closed.
Put in a dark place for 48 hrs then put he germinated seeds into a shallow hole and barely cover in anything but miracle grow soil. Seedlings don't need to be fed for two weeks after they pop up.
I admire that you've jumped right in but you'll need to read up on nutrients etc to keep them going.

Agreed that MG soil can be used. There are several on here that use it. IMHO, there are better options. Almost any organic soil, lightly amended will make your life much easier.

Thanks for the advice, and yea i have killed some seeds unfortunately and I'm going to practice again with nirvana seeds (blue mystic) to see if I learned anything from my failures. As far as my method goes I tried both the distilled water in a shot glass with darkness and warmth for a little over two days? Then I transfered to the paper towel method I honestly don't understand what I did wrong during germination but I know what I did when planting :$. The white widow seeds never grew taproots. And yea I believe miracle grow can be used aswell but I don't think it's safe for babies

Yea it's brutal bud it just feels like a waste of life and energy when you screw up something that going to grow to be a living thing.

As far as germination this is what I do and I have had 100% germination of seeds thus far.
I soak them in tap water for 18 hours. I don't necessarily put them in a dark place while they soak.
Then I place them between wet paper towels on a flat plate. After I have them between the wet paper towels I pour off the excess water if there is any.
I then place the plate in my dark cool closet for roughly 36-48 hours. I check them every 8-12 hours to make sure the paper towels are not dried out. If they are I add tap water to keep the paper towels moist.
Usually between 32-48 hours I have tap roots 1/4-1/2 inch.
At that time I place them 1/4-1/2" deep into "light soil" in a solo cup. I moisten the solo cup soil and place them under a T5 light for 24 hours per day until they break the service of the soil.
I lightly spray the soil were the seed is located each morning.
Then I begin 18/6 lighting. I keep the temperature of the seedlings and soil above 78 degrees F and below 82 degrees F.
I do not overwater the solo cup, I add enough water to keep the soil just around the seed/seedling moist each day.
As the seedling increases in size I slowly add a little more water around the seedling.
There are a number of different ways to germinate and start a seedling, this works for me. I do not use "hot soil," seeds and seedlings do not need allot of nutrients.

I have had 1 seedling not make it after I germed it and it was my fault. The husk did not come off the embryo so I manually removed the husk. When I did I injured the embryo so she didn't grow for me. That was my fault.

Everyone has some great feed back. That's why I love this site. Honestly I've only been growing for about 10 months now and on my 4th 5th and 6th grow from seed (perpetual growing) and so far 100% germination. Honestly for millions of years mother nature has thrown her seeds on the ground and they have grown with no assistance. With any plants not all seeds will germinate so it's a bit of a gamble. I understand people use there ways and I'm definitely not saying those are wrong. Fortunately there are many ways to pop a seed. Just think of it this way. Seeds need media,water and the right environmental conditions. Nothing in nature is perfect and cannabis grows in all conditions. What I definitely can tell you is DO NOT OVER WATER! Wet the media and get damp not soaking. Multiple seeds from the same plant can also germinate at different times so be patient. If they haven't popped in 3 weeks I would say they are done. Don't throw away if they haven't popped in 10-12 days that's a waste of money if you ask me.
