Hello all,
I have been looking into acquiring a warehouse and set it up with LED lights and the best equipment. I have been looking at a few different COBs from the Amare SE 450 to the Platinum P9-xml2 and the GrowthStar Scorpion 9x 550 LED Grow Light. Is there another good quality LED light or should I do half and half - half HPS and half LED. I'm looking to grow the best quality bud with very heavy yields. I also do not want to do any DIY for I don't have the patience nor time.

Also what ventilation would I need?

Money isn't necessarily tight, but if I could, I'd like to spend about 10000 on lights that would be able to sufficiently cover 50 plants.

How big would the plants get?

Square footage of your grow space?

I'm sorry in advance, I am new to growing. I am currently growing inside one of my homes and I am looking to grow on a larger scale. I was thinking a 5000 sq ft space and I would be utilizing all of the ground space. I want a total of 50 plants, and I am aiming for 5-6 lbs per plant, is this possible?

That's what I'm still figuring out, in a warehouse space. Should I be letting them grow vertically or do a SCROG/SOG?

I would start with one light, maybe two at most. If you fail, you are gonna lose a huge amount of money to electricity, water, time, etc.. vs. failing with one light until you understand how to grow, then upscale. If you are in a hurry, hirer a grower and pay them accordingly. Learning from someone with experience is where you save time and money.

I have a very experienced grower that will be watching the operation, money isn't really the issue here though. I have an investor that will fund it all, I just want to know what the best lights are and what supplies I need.

If you have a very experienced grower then he should be the one to tell you what lights to use. Everyone has a different recipe.

An indoor house grower, not a commercial grower. I asked a question about lights, I didn't ask to quibble over semantics with someone with a lot of opinions.

The thing is, there is about 20 or more different ways to do things. You don't have a very experienced grower then if he is just a house grower. There are many obstacles you have to overcome in a commercial setting that are not there in a house. There are reasons some people use LED's when others use LEC's or HPS or CFL's.... BTW this "Someone" has done what you are trying to do more than a few times. You are trying to play middle man to an investor and a grower, meanwhile your grower should be taking charge and telling you what he needs.

Just trying to get some ideas, I'm using LEC's currently. I do not know what lights are best for a commercial setting, that's why I'm trying to ask for some opinions on what lights I should use.

Like ttystikk said there really is not enough data on your space. Will heat be an issue where you are? What about electrical service, or are you going to upgrade that if needed.

I do know the first two lights mentioned are good but if you are using CMH maybe you want to add one at a time before replacing them all right away to see what works the best for you? I have researched the first two lights and decided that I am going with DIY COB & quantum boards but I will only replace my CMH one at a time. That way if heat becomes an issue I can add a water cooled LED option before I have too much invested.

One of my buddies in CO went from a house garden to a large scale grow and according to him it is a whole different set of challenges, everything from Op Sec to CO2 production. Good luck

For lighting, if money isn't a problem then the two I would probably look at are the DimLux Expert Series 630W CMH and the Fluence engineering LED's like the VYPR plus and SPYDR plus. Read very good things about both and the specs look great but they're both pretty damn expensive and only really see you saving money after a couple of years of running them over DE HPS lights

All of these are badly obsolete and would cost yield.

There are much better options now entering the market.

I can help you grow that size plants indoors. It's a very specialized skill set, the vast majority of growers don't have the experience to do it indoors.

LED lighting is a must.

Advanced HVAC will save your bacon as prices for your product continue to fall.

You're biting off a big mouthful. To be successful you'll need more than general advice on lighting. I'd very much like to assist you. PM me.

Trolling at its finest,5k square feet first time grow. Suppose if you have 25k to spend on COBS, should be fine. And growing three kilo plants, obviously haha

Like ttystikk said, those lights are pretty much obsolete, and expensive at that. I run LEC's, DE's and a few LED's. Each of them are used in different spots for different reasons. Are you trying to grow large plants to keep plant count down or what? It takes to much veg time for me to want to grow trees like that inside.
