The cheapest grow ever?

Thanks so much for the advice on Rh. I have some bowls of water in front of the fan and it is doing nothing, zilch. I have been thinking of using distilled water (homemade) and my tap water is 7 PH.

Now FWIW, my florescent bulbs are not hot to the touch, not even warm. They are only T12-48"-40W. Looking into same size but LED, 25W with 1700 lumen. I am quite impressed on how my red potted plant is improving. I will let you know how the misting works out.
 
I appreciate what you are saying but I would need 6 light sockets to screw them into which with wiring, labour, etc would cost more than $60. Not to mention I think LED bulbs would be a better choice there too, IMHO. This one was super easy to install, and removing it will be just as easy. I had $100 extra and this seemed a good way to upgrade my closet grow.

$70 Roleadro 300W 2nd gen from Amazon would have been a better option, but what's done is done I guess. My brother is growing one of my Plushberry clones under a 19W LED fixture and its doing surprisingly well so far. He is about 3 weeks into flower - I need to stop by and take look, I haven't seen it in a couple weeks.
 
Thanks. I prefer to buy local then I can get up in someones face if I am unhappy. If all else fails I sick my wife on them, she is relentless and ALWAYS gets a refund.

So my light is 38W I think and 3700 lumen. Let me know how your brother is doing, I would like to hear feedback on that.

I gotcha Bro - different strokes and all. It would be nice if some of these cheap LED panels were available in retail places...

I was thinking about swingin' by his place tonight and taking a look at it. He is about a week ahead of me in flower, and I'll hit 14 days on Sunday.
 
Great, I cannot wait, LOL. I was looking at that light you talked about and if I ever manage to build a decent grow room that will be a likely candidate.
 
Growing cheap will probably not yield well. Like, if by cheap, you mean cutting corners at every one you come to. That's not love. You have to love your plants for them to love you back.

Yep, that is pretty much my expectation. If I get even an ounce I will know I can succeed at growing and then invest anything I can scrape together to upgrade. First I need to build a small room. Then I will have the closet for growing and the more equipped area for flowering.

You'd probably succeed better and more easily, and enough to motivate yourself more easily, if you actually start out with proper medium, notes, and lights. It's not rocket surgery. It doesn't really take anything but patience and understanding to grow. Maybe a bit of passion, too. Point is, you'll probably have a better first experience with a proper medium, nute regimen, and lighting system. Growing half-assed is incomparable, so the experience you'd be getting without those three main things would be horribly blunted (no pun intended) and wouldn't really be as immersive as you think.

Anyone will tell you I'm partial to Roots Organics, personally, which is what I'd recommend.
 
Thanks for the info. I am still waiting for my first CPP cheque so I can move forward with nutes, better lights and a decent grow room.
I will look at that Roots Organic, hopefully I can buy it locally.

And of course some special seeds. These bag seeds are hit and miss. I put 4 in to germ about 10 days ago, only one popped. I put another 4 in to germ 4 days ago and only two popped. After 2 days one of the two would not give up his helmet, so I pulled it and the plant came out. Had a few decent roots already so I grabbed it by the neck and pulled the helmet off. There was next to no cotyledon leaves but two new leaves had already started, inside the shell. Not sure how it will grow, but it is not dead yet.
 
Started 4 more seeds on Saturday and when I checked today three had popped and were looking like little tadpoles. I will give it one more day for the fourth one then plant. This time around I will do some topping and try for some bushier plants. I feel at 8 weeks they may be too far gone for my grow area to start topping now. As much as I want to try all the wonderful techniques I have been reading about, a part of me just wants to get through the first grow before I start making any changes, as sort of a baseline if you will.
 
Week 8 pics are in. Seems to be quite a bit if new growth coming out at the nodes. Smokin!
