Plant problems! Seedling Week 3

I'm new to growing and these babies have been having some issues.

They are in Week 3 after sprouting from seed.

They have been just recently transplanted to a bigger pot to prevent root bind. They were transplanted from small pots about a 1/2 or 1/3 gallon pot.

Here is my setup:

Lights: 4x 23W 6500K CFL
Tent: 2x2x5 Grow tent w proper vent(stays around 19°-21°)
Watering Scheduale: Every 3 days with tap water that has evaporated chlorine
Nutrients: None ( except in potting mix, 0.21-0.11-0.16)
Lighting: 18/6

I'm not too sure what my pH is. I don't have a meter. I am working on limited funds for all this.

Soil is Miricle Grow Potting Mix

Well thats your problem....mg potting mix has low ph and does not buffer at all. Spend a few bucks get better soil amend with lime and transplant. Thats the help part now some constructive criticism. This is a big issue I see people try to be cheap and still expect a good outcome......you get out what you put in.
 
What about using an organic soil?

I am looking at the prices and that is a very large amount of money to spend. I can't afford that. It is saying 2 cu. Ft 9f happy frog potting soil is 375.00.

Dont know where you are looking but Its 40 for 2cu ft. But if you due some research im sure there are other good soils
 
How much soil is generally used for 2 3 gal pots?
I read my other soil bag and it says the big bag that filled both them pots and some left over is only 1 cu ft. Is that right?
 
The bottom line is ... Since you are NOT PHing your water You are just " hoping " it's right. You gotta be a little more prepared , if you grow by guessing then it's all for nothing.

Try this -
Mist your seedlings instead of overwatering container
Get a PH METER - use 6.5 ph
What nutes do you plan to use ?
MG Soil CAN grow somewhat but can be unpredictable and sometimes way hot for seedlings ....
Look for a packaged Veg/Flower Garden type mix ... Like you are growing tomatoes.
Dont worry to much about first leaves ( single finger ) they waste away over time anyways.
Amazon has DYNAGRO NUTES - great / easy to use nute line.

A reflector on those CFL will project the light more to the plant ( as the spiral bulbs admit most of its light from the sides.

Would the soil I am looking for have nutrients already added? I found a Pro Mix Vegetable and Herb Organic Mix.

Though I read the description and it says it has nutrients that will feed the plants for up to three months.

That's the soil I'm using. I've read a lot of good things about it. I don't know if it's necessary to ph the water first since the soil has a buffer but I do anyway since the water is shared between non buffering mediums. I just keep a 5 gallon bucket bubbling away at ph 6.5 and use it when needed.

I never cycled the soil first either, just used it straight out of the bag. So far no issues.
I did add more perlite to it though. Canadian tire sells both the soil and perlite.

What do you mean you let it bubble away?

It may be too dry then.

I've grown in it before. Used to use it a lot. People always say cannabis hates it. It worked for me. I quit because it has heavy metal in it. I cut it with seed starter for young plants.

I make my own. Organic water only fro start to finish.

The bucket I use for holding only water for the plants is kept cool and I keep an air stone in it to put as much oxygen in it as possible.
I use 50% well water and 50% filter and find it easier to pre mix in a 5 gallon instead of doing it every water.
I don't add anything else to the water beside a little ph down the day after filling it.
Petsmart 5" round air stone, home depot 5gal bucket.

The promix seems to work well though, atleast for the first part of the plant life. I'm not banking on the soil feeding the plant from start to finish though, It's only in a 3 gal with added perlite.

Is the air stone connected to a air pump? I don't get what putting air through the water does..
