Wow. Bombs were just dropped. I'm glad @ShLUbY came in with all the facts straight. It's great that this community has members who are so knowledgeable and willing to take the time to explain the actual science. Thank you for helping me understand the how and why. We're lucky to have you. Much love man. Stay safe and happy farming
Take it as you will..

It's still very true that there's not enough CaCo3 in crab shell to properly neutralize all those sites in your peat.

Just because I mixed up hydrogen ions with hydroxyl ions doesn't change that fact.

Youre still not getting it rasta.... calcium is not the only cation in the mix, as i have said for the 4th time now... and to keep a ph in check, the hydrogen cations need to be neutralized into water via the mechanism i showed you a couple posts ago (and other mechanisms similar to it like OH + H ----> H2O and O2 + 4H+ -----> 2H2O), or by being ionically bonded to those negative surfaces. If you have a bunch of H+ ions free floating around (i'm keeping this simple and leaving out hydroniums role in this whole process) in excess then your ph will drop. Never will all the negative surfaces on clay/peat/humus/biochar be void of hydrogen. Furthermore, it's not the negative charged surface sites that need neutralized, it's the Hydrogen atoms that need neutralized because Hydrogen causes acidity in the first place. that's why it's called ph (percent hydrogen).

Don't get defensive guy. I was referring to the knowledge @ShLUbY left us. My comment had nothing to do with your posts. Talk less, listen more.

Your mixture is very close to a traditional no til recipe. If you add some worms, malted barley powder and mulch you should be pretty set to use that soil for years. Malted barley is great because it is sproutes to the point of maximum enzyme content. Making SSTs at home is really at best, a guessing game. My last suggestion would be to ditch they oyster flour and azomite and try and get some gypsum and basalt or other rock dust. I've been told azomite has high levels of aluminum which can be problematic for your health. Whatever you do, I'm glad you're over here and not on the hydroponics forum. Stay safe and happy farming.
I only need to water once a week so I won't be able to do that schedule. I'm just gonna kinda back off and let it do its thing like you guys are telling me. I have just given them an aact (compost/EWC, kelp, fish hydrosolate, and molasses) and only have one more planned. I'm on day 6 of flower or 12/12. Maybe one more sst and a top dressing and that's it.

Also I do have worms and mulch in these mixes. Just not barley. I'll definitely look into it and do want to add some gypsum when I do a full reamend after a couple grows. Keeping the oyster shell tho. And have heard basalt is a better rock dust, azomite was just what I had so I used it. Thanks for your insight though man. Much appreciated! And yea, all organic for me!

Someone also mentioned I didn't have compost in my mixes or teas? I do though, sorry if I didn't put that down. It's the MVP base of my mixes and teas. Lol

Looking good man. And like stated before, the azomite in your initial mix probably isn't going to hurt you, I'd just not add anymore. If you're 6 days into flower, it might be getting close to the point where a topdress isn't worth it. I usually topdress when I plant and then once right before i flower and it'll see them through til the end. Either way they look healthy AF. Keep it up. Stay safe and happy farming.

Makes sense. I think I'm out of it anyway so ill just get basalt and gypsum next time. And in that case I'll just do the top dressing today, I want to get it in.

And thanks man, they grew nice and loved their environment. They're starting to stretch now but the Cataract was growing nice tight nodes the whole time. The Bubba was a little stretchy so won't be growing her again
