I never suggest anything. Most cobs are color corrected cri starting with white leds. The color is further enhanced with more color by kelvin, as well. Full spectrum cob's have various leds, red, bluem IR, UV, etc, not just colorized cobs, but mixed leds. I am not saying you will not get healthy grows. I am saying you will get bigger healthier plants with additional red/blue combinations of light along with UV, IR, etc. I have done both, or else i would not say anything, and if we were in the same room, I would probably stick my tongue out at you and show you my fat ass nugz filled with thc rails and sugar stalks to go with them and we would fall asleep after 15 minutes of blazing.
Folks have been bashing blurples lights for too long. Now there are cobs from 10w/350mA to 500w/8A as efficient as cree and the others. Adding more color spectrum to your grow room cannot be a bad thing, even NASA research shows it ot be a great choice. The larger commercial horticulture operations are using full spectrum lights not out of ignorance but because of the science behind it. Most folks do not have enough science background to understand that HPS provided a full spectrum of light minus the higher blues which CMH provided during veg. COB lights are fine, but I have been pursuing color spectrum from teh start. I have used royal blue, deep red, IR, and far red now and I have been using full spectrum as well now, and I see more positive development. If I had to choose a new light it would be Vitaly's light with full spectrum built in instead of having to add it after the fact. That is why I developed the GG controller to add additional light spectrum which cobs do not have. I run 6 channels four are color spectrum two are cobs.
