Yeah man, nothing grows here in winter, hence why I asked if he had frosts. We get maybe 15-20 days of -8 and 5 or so days of -10. Not constant but enough to stop growth!!

Do you just double up on them? Like 2 on one frame type thing? I used them last year and the frost totally screwed my plants by mid winter. I'm on east coast of Oz too!
Nah I just use 1 per frame . seems to work for me in NSW . this will be my 4th year using them

Cool as man! Yeah I've had one for a few years but the frosts just seem to nail the plants. What I might be able to do is wrap some insulation around the pots or some reflective material along the inside maybe...I dunno!

Very cheap to try. Haha and best thing is rippers are never in the forest at winter . never lost a greenhouse. Always use black pots helps keep the roots nice and warm. Will mainly concentrate on gorilla glue strains this winter plus all the freebie seeds I got from attitude. Hopefully this year things go well for you in winter.

eastcoast i dont think the hothouse will work for your area, -5 & -8 is just too cold, the ambient temp is too low for a greenhouse to offer protection from that, it would have to be heated i think to be a success, im probably going to have a hydronic heated concrete slab under my greenhouse with hot water coming from a copper pipe wrapped around the potbelly wood heater that runs 24/7 during winter

i think bobqp's zone is in a warmer realm thats why his can still grow ok, just that extra 5-10 degrees is a game changer when it comes to plant growth...you will certainly need that heated greenhouse if you venture to the apple isle! got buddies in Tas and they grow top shelf there too

So, I grew up in the northern Midwest US. Winter lows overnight routinely reach -35. Often less. One of the things gardeners use to extend the season there are 'hoop houses'. They are semi excavated/submerged greenhouses. It wont turn winter to summer, but getting the roots below the frostline in a warmed greenhouse adds a fair amount of extra time to the growing season. With active ventilation they stay cool well in warmer temps too.

sounds like a good idea, theres a lot to know/learn about greenhouse growing in winter, ive gotta get it dialed in cos it means 40% more production time than i can perform now just growing in spring summer and autumn, are you total indoors our outdoors as well?
