The beach is just going to be in a different place.
A single storm can move lots of sand. It can undermine or cover a seawall. What a beachfront homeowner would call damage. The sand don't care where it gets washed to. The little sandbed known as Dauphin Island Al is a good example. It is full of lots, all marked off in measured order, with pretty fancy houses perched on pilings. But the island goes this way and that as the winds and currents play at the sand. They have spent way too much money trying to bring the sand back.
