Powder Vs liquid nutes

Don't know why that's funny. Not everyone here is growing for profit. If it works for him, he gets good results, and likes the quality why does it matter if he spends more to do it? If it NTFG keeps his plants healthier so he has to do less work, isn't that also a benefit?
Think he just thought it was funny the way it was put is all. It was a little funny, dudes plants do look great though. I bet they would look the same with less then 7 nutrient parts from a nutrient company also. And this site does teach people that.

I have never tried r/o instead of tap. That would definitely require cal/mag. The only supplement I use is silica for strong branches.

Not knocking that at all, but a big part of this whole discussion is balancing, and finished product. Good nute lines will balance things out for you, rather than playing with mixes oneself. There's also the fact that some companies are more environmentally responsible than others. I'm having success with GO, but I don't like Scott's as a company so I'm looking to find a different line.

I have heard rumors. But the only evidence anyone has shown is a different color. How can we be certain its changed?
I guess until you get the new & improved version you won't have a valid opinion....but I feel quite confident it is more than just the colour that you will notice

This is one reason i want to get away from General. They're owned by Scott's now, so it's likely you'll be paying for over priced MG.

It is funny! - each part cost money!

If you can do it - just as good if not better....Then 2 parts are far cheaper then 7! And 1 is the cheapest of all!

The major amount of pictures in Jorge Cervantes books are credited to 1 man.....I'm tell'in ya now....All he uses is Jack's classic....No bloom boosting! In fact, he laugh's at everyone who "boost's"! He does understand the idea of K or Mg sulfate use in bloom....chooses not to....He's not growing for market!

I have many excellent grows using Hydroponic Research V + B, but not being able to reduce their high N during flower bothered me to the point of switching to another product during flower, and eventually for both. Been using the complete line of Emerald Harvest for several grows now. Can't say I notice any improvement in flavor or weight.

question,,, if using gh maxi bloom alone at 7 grams per ga;llon,, what is the ph?? i use both gro in veg and bloom but also use bloom alone,, at 1 tsp per gallon the ph is perfect,, if i go easy or half strength i fing im adding ph down...

does jacks have a ph ballancer in it?? that is another thing i really love about gh maxi and flora nutes,, if used at 1 tsp per gallon they get my waters ph to a perfect level,,ph 5.8,,, if i use more than 1 tsp per gallon my ph is low,,so i ad silica... a tsp of silica will raise the ph of a 50 gallon rez from 4.8 to 5.4..

I've just recently decided to go with Jacks but after reading this thread I'm not sure how to mix it for bloom or what ones to buy. If anyone has dummies / expert way that would be awesome.

1) Some said jacks citrus mixed with something else

2) Said just use jacks 20-20-20

I just bought jacks 20-20-20 due to one of these threads and now I'm wondering if I should have bought citrus

Awesome thread guys... some good info here

Mine Ph's @ 6.3 from tap water mix only, and EC 1.6, add silica and sheet goes up.

Have anyone decided on the exact Jacks mix for bloom

Oh and about maxibloom, confirmed it is a good base nute but fact is it is lacking. It does not take your hobby to the full potential it leaves them lacking in some way and the med's are good but not as good as it could be... not sure how to word it hope you get what I'm saying. It's like the med's could be a 10 but the maxibloom makes it more like a 7 or 8 due to whatever it lacks.

I've found adding surgar to maxibloom in the last 4 to 8 weeks will greatly improve maxibloom and if you add blacstrap it will add even more benefit and weight.

Am I knocking (the old) maxibloom... nope not at all. It saves a lot of money (buy a blender - not hot but warm water - keep it in a super cool and very dry place) What I'm saying is if you are not really good at reading the ladies be prepared to not have your med's reach their full potential in taste, quality and medication. By adding sugar (brown is best) and molasses (any brand, glass bottles are best) you can improve maxi bloom very much and make it worth your while. If you want to go expert level add organic juice (cold not hot, want to shock the plant a little) the last week before harvest and you will see nice results : )

Hope this helps folks using maxibloom or thinking about it.

OTHER MUST HAVES:

1) Dyno grow liquid silca - Yes I know it's pricey and we could buy it in powder but dg's blend is the best it keeps mites away, strengthens your stems and seems to just make the leaves seem happier. But if you have or have had a mite problem once you get rid of them use dg's silica and they won't come back... not sure why but it works. You have to get ride of them first. I have not had to by aza or neem for a while. Be careful to mix it first in the res as the directions say or it will cause nute lock out... not fun. And mix at 1/2 dose to start as it's super strong.

2) Great White - Yes I know I know it's waayyyyy overpriced and you are totally getting shaken down but man does it produce results. Used it one time and saw such great results even using salt based (non organic) nutes and the roots were huge and white and all I could saw was wow this stuff is a must.

But another 22 shipping makes it 44.

I just hate paying 22 shipping.

Found this;

6 pack

#1- Calcium Nitrate (CaNO3) 500 Grams

#2- Potassium Sulphate (K2SO4) 500 Grams

#3- Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) 500 Grams

#4- Mono Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4) 500 Grams

#5- Magnesium Sulphate (MGSO4) 500 Grams

#6- Trace Elements (TE) 100 Grams

This is 31.99 for 1.4kg

Looks like it could be gun to play with.

I am going to contact the supplier for mixing info.

That's true, but again cost isn't the only factor in deciding on a nute line. I'm getting good results from my line, but it's owned by Scott's MG, not people I want to deal with. I'm looking at NTFG because of their business practices, along with their nutes.

Does it occur to anyone that the people working at these companies that have sold to scotts or larger still work there and need their paycheck.

And whether a bank or finance company owns the business or a large corporation regular people still go to work everyday and make products.

When I need an aspirin I don't get picket signs out to yell about Bayer. And they may be the worst company ever.

I don't think I will feel guilty continuing to use Botanicare.

Just a thought and perspective folks.

That doesn't mean I have to support their business practices. Did ever also occur to you that these types of companies are continually increasing their automation so that they can employ fewer people every year?

Yes. Even more reason to help people keep their jobs. The companies know they will go out of business because of the big players so the owners sell.

Do you avoid the local supermarket because of the continued use of self scanners?

And no I am not trying to convince you differently. I say do what you feel is right. I just wanted to give a different perspective.

I hear that, and yes, I do avoid the local chains that use self check out where possible. I now shop primarily at Costco and Aldi, two companies that have low prices and treat their employees well.

I'm not trying to cconvince anyone to do anything, just to understand that there are more things to consider than just final yield. Our dollars speak far louder to these companies than our words ever will.

Your way is not wrong, mine is not better, but every action has an effect, I try to make mine as positive as I can. That's all.

Grow in peace, brother.

Great response!

I live in a little country town. I shop locally. I mostly avoid chain stores and restaurants. And I eat plenty of locally grown food.

The gardening products I buy may be produced ultimately by a big conglomerate but I pay for them in cash at a locally owned store from people I know now.

And I only use bagged soil and a 1 part natural style fertilizer so it ain't much I am really buying.

Yeah, I buy all my nutes from my local store. I did purchase some equipment on the internet, but this grow is BUDGET 1st. I am the sole provider for my family. Also, have you looked into Nectar's new soil? It's small batch organic.

You will hate my soil answer. I use ocean forest since I moved here as it is sold at a small store in town.

There is more available now. We got a garden store in the next town over now.

I bet nector makes some nice mix though.
