Drain to waste interest me bc it seems simple
I'm an organic guy been growing over a decade but I'm tired of the mess actually my wife is tired of me getting dirt everywhere
I have little knowledge of bottled nutes but I do like dyna grow foliage pro
I've heard of people using it 3ml/g all the way thru in coco
I'm wondering if a bed of hydroton would work the same?
Can anyone help me convert easily to hydro like without a lot of mixing nutes
I haven't checked ph in years and years
I don't know who to ask really but maybe even dwc using foliage pro only?
I'm at work and dot know how much sense I'm even making but can anyone recommend any type of hydro system that can use foliage pro all the way thru as a standalone one part nute schedule
I was thinking a Rubbermaid/tray of hydroton or pots of coco in a tray hand watered everyday? Idk if it would work but can anyone help me out sorry if I sound like an idiot lol

If you go hydro to prevent making a mess, than coco is out of the question since it is just as messy as dirt. Rather go for rock-wool grow cubes or mapito and for nutriment simply use Canna A + B Vega and Flores. No more is needed to get great results.

Wow. Nice. I'm an old outdoor grower converting also and you seem to have this indoor thing down so can you give me some advice please? I've got a 1.2 X 1.2 x 2 meters tent with 2 x 600W LED's but am wondering about CO2....are those mushy growing set ups OK or are the canisters the only way to do it? Grateful for advice! I've got lots of space and am setting up a bigger tent next grow. This ones just a 'dip my toes in' deal.

I'd love to help but unfortunately i've never grown with led's nor CO2.

I'm a dyed in the wool dtw fan. I make a hempy bucket out of 2.5gal pails. Drill a hole up 1.5 inches from the bottom, fill with perlite to just above the hole, fill with coco to all but the last 1/4in, then dress the top wih perlite. I have each bucket slightly raised on blocks to keep a small drain dish under each pot. I mix 6ml of gh micro and 9ml of gh bloom to a gallon of tapwater and add (for my water, yours likely different) 3ml of ph down. I usually flush each pot with 10 gallon of tapwater before I put a plant in them. I only ph the last two gallons of it though.

They go quick. When the roots work their way down into that lower reservior, I mean. Like a rocket. I try and shoot for a 30-60ml runoff. Not much I know, but it works for me. In week 3 of flower now. They take about 1/2 gallon a day each (maybe slightly more). I feed 'em twice a day each. Once when the lights come on, and again about 2hrs before shutdown. I empty the little drain dishes every couple of days. Easy peasy.

I second this. I'm doing DWC now, but I'm going DTW on my next run, its all set to go, just need to plug in drip lines, timer, pump, and fill a bucket of nutes

Go through this. Not that vertical or aquaponics is the way to go but the info for is basically the same as hydro. This is my 1st time also.

Similar, yes, but not exactly. Technically, most aquaponic growers use a hydroponic method, or at minimum, duel root zones. Hydroponics simply means "soil-less"

Point taken. But yah gotta start some where. Also kudos to you guys. Your the ones who pointed me to
Bright Agrotech.
I thought hydro meant water?? As in Hydroelectric.

Keep in mind "Nate Storey" and the PhD he posts on all his videos, has his Doctorate in Philosophy, not Botany, and his Masters is in Integrated Agricultural System. He only has a bachelors in Agroecology. I wouldn't follow his teaching to the T.

Wow imagine the debates he has with his plants!!!
Rutabaga says, "Why am I here?"

Nate pulls out a knife. "Shlash".... "I win!"

I went from soil to areo/aquaponic set up and I have had almost 0 issues. I think why I am getting away with this so easy is 2 simple things
1. it's aquaponic I have 6 silver shiners in a 10 gal tank just eating they are herbivores so that helps tank is empty no decorations they eat any matter that flows in tank.
2. because it is aquaponic need a filter I have a juice bottle that had a large opening so I could fit a 1 inch elbow in it and it seals it. inside I have 8 cheap plastic wire sponges and a hand full of lava rock(controls ph jumps does not lower ph just helps keep it stable) shoved in and mixed around with holes at the bottom that feed to the inside of the aquaponic system...

this is a bitch to set up and you need to wait 1 month after you add fish to add plants so that the good bacteria kill all the stuff you don't want. but I have never felt this lazy lol.

I just want to confirm you know that:

Aeroponics is a plant-cultivation technique in which the roots hang suspended in the air while nutrient solution is delivered to them in the form of a fine mist. "Aero" meaning "relating to air", and "ponics" meaning "labor" or "to work".

Aquaponic is a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water. "Aqua" meaning "relating to aquaculture and fish", and "ponics" meaning "labor" or "to work".

Two very different meanings..

my roots hang for 20 inches and are sprayed 1 min every 20mins so thought that would be aero.

and yes the waste of my fish go through 3 ft of pipe and a 1 gal size filter as I mentioned to remove bad bacteria then a 2nd pump sprays roots on a timer so yean aero/aqua due to fact I'm using suspended roots and fish. but they in reality both feed each other I have root debris go in to my tank all the time and they eat, it shit it out, circle O life. it's basically set up like a sump filter suspended in a aeroponic system. thought I had my word play right.
