We measured with a crappy lumen meter under two two identical reflectors. We placed it on marks layed out every 6" on a piece of white plywood under a pair of smaller footprint air cooled reflectors that we had. I swapped the socket on one and we set them up side by side and took measurements.
It was very rough but the meter only read more than a 5% reduction for the 315 in a few places. Then rest were right about 5% less lumen for the 315 VS the 600. We did 3 sets of measurements and averaged it and the math was about 5% less light. Not scientific, but...
On the site I first met you i just had a 'debate' about the 860W bulbs. the short of it is the agro is at least 2 generations newer tech.
the 860 is significantly better than hps. And a great bulb. But the 315W agro beats it in every way but the initial cost. And you can run 3 315W agros for the power of one 860. and get far more light.

How did you measure? Do the 860W CDM lamps have a similar profile?
