I created a drying box. Any suggestions. Lots of pics

I am about 1 week away from harvesting my first of 4 plants. I realized that I need a place to hang and dry my buds while they are on the stem. I need to be able to control the lighting (no light) and I need to be able to control the humidity.

So I decided to create my own drying box. Here are the pictures that I have so far. I still need to put the electronics inside to control the humidity process but this is the completed box. I also still need to add the carbon filter to keep the smell down.

This box will work by automatically switching on the inline filter to pull air from the bottom of the box through the top and eventually out of a carbon charcol filter.

I have one left thing to add. I have purchased an automatic humidity switch. It will turn the inline fan on when the humidity gets too high.

What if the outside air gets humid? You know they have small thermoelectric dehumidifiers which could be sat right inside there. Then there's also no smell coming out. The beauty of it is that the fan in it also serves to circulate the air when it's on. My guess is that it would be on most of the time anyway, since those dehumidifiers are pretty slow, being low wattage. Doubt you'd even need a controller actually, just a RH meter. The heat it generates would probably aid the drying. This is all just theoretical, as a suggestion. I don't actually dry that way currently. Might not be a bad idea sometime, but I'm trying something else currently. Should work though.

i stpped hang drying as trimming became a real bitch,, so i now pull plants and use a centurion pro trimmer works great.. i then put buds on screen shelves in a plastic closet,, i put a hole in the top of it and 2 4inch fans in the bottom so air gets pulled through the closet.. i can dry 3-4 lbs dry weight in about 5 days.. i have a dehumidifier in the room and keep humidity at 45%... thoughts???

ive heard drying them to fast isnt good but my weed has been coming out perfect,nice smell,, then i cure in tote for a month or so

really nice build,,, u could make some cash selling those... how long did it take to build and how much did u spend on materials?? the carbon filter is a nice touch,, when i dry my hole house smells,,but i dont mind...id buy one w/out the filter lol

Yes I have. Not out of wood though, to expensive and too heavy to ship. I am working on something though. This is the second test run.

You blew my mind with this, this is a fantastic idea! I'm still trying to find the best way to do this. Well the most automated way. Thank you for this, I will test it for sure.

I've done it that way as well, this is all testing for me anyways. Any tips help and thank you for the responses!

About 5hrs total from start to finish. And about $250ish.

This is the last piece. I have two things added, one is a controller so that I can controll the speed at which it pulls humidity out. The other is a sensor that turns the exhaust fan on when the air gets too 65% humidity and it turns off at 50%.

It is working well. I want to add that my humidity outside the box is at 33%. I live in a place where the humidity average is 30-40%. There is rain and those types of things, but because of the carbon filter I can bring this baby inside!

I also only need it for 3-7 days, depending on how quick or slow this works.

Awesome build. From experience, I'm a lazy bugger when it comes to trimming so I stretch it out over a long period of time, weeks sometimes. I keep my drying room 65-68RH and can keep them hanging for weeks with no issues or deterioration in terps etc. With a contrioller maintaining 65-70% it could be used for holding plants until you're ready to trim them.

i dry in a tent and this thing is amazing. i see you already have a controller but this will control both up and down on the humidity with outlets for a fan and humidifier. i think the biggest thing with drying and curing is a nice slow process over about 12-14 days in a well controlled environment. the fan kicks on and off for the first week or so and then once the rh begins to level off the humidifier will kick on and off to keep them at ~60 for the full 2 weeks.

either way i like the build. i had a similar cabinet but about twice the size until i had to move up to a 4x4 tent.
