If your doing synthetic feeding. That run off contains concentrated forms of things you don't want that plant to sit in.....You'll hit problems down the road. One's that will be hard to fix properly.

I water a metered amount daily. I get good O2 to the roots that way. I can also control feeding better (In my opinion).

My plants in 3 gallon pots are simply there to grow into the 5 or 7's and then they get flipped and finish...A plant at 3-4 ft should be taking in 4 cups or a qt of feed everyday and not get run off - or very little that doesn't even reach the bottom of the pot - so it doesn't take it back in. A 4 ft plant is close to up potting for finish - if the strain shows that it's roots are building up - I'll go to a 5 and finish in a 7.

this is my 1st grow. . there in 3 gallon pots I don't normally leave them sat in any run off in fact it's the 1st time I have. but I shall bare this in mind thank you...y plants are over a foot tall and been flipped 4 days ago . i veged for way longer than needed .42days.. but I had a couple small issue's I wanted sorted to make sure they were as healthy as possible before flip. ..I gave 2 plants some calmag to sort a problem and seem to be OK .. I have gave them all some coco boost and only 1 shows a little yellowing to the tips. . there in a compost that had already added worm casting. . I added a little coco coir . vermiculite and perlite. I also drilled holes in the pot sides before potting to allow air to roots better. .. there in a 1.2x1.2x2mtr tent. 600watt hps cool tube .I have a 4 inch in line blowing cold air to the bulb in the cool tube but I have the cooled air blown it the tent this keeps temperature to about 80..81f plant height and 77.9f at canopy. I have a 6 inch rvk fan with a large carbon filter . 1 oscillating fan in one corner pointing up between light and plants and a clip on half way up the tent. . I then have a 4 inch ducting on the bottom port hole going to an open window to allow fresh air to be pulled in... my fear now i's how and when to feed nutes as I don't want to over do it .. I am planning on feeding molasses in a few feeds now in flower as this I believe adds to flavour and bigger buds any help is greatly appreciated

My girls get super thirsty in flower. To be noted though as Casinofo said if you have a rock of dry medium the liquid will travel right around it almost like water running over a rock. In which case you need to penetrate that solid medium and get some moisture to the inside and rehydrate from the inside out.

Um, sorry to break your bubble. Molasses is used to feed and build the micro heard - the living things in an organic grow.....
It will not really effect the taste of your plant. Another thing is that you should be very careful to not over use it as it can ferment and cause the soil to go anaerobic and that will kill a plant. Takes a lot in a way but, I've seen it done.

If you really want to increase the smells and flavors.....Look to Sulfur in the form of Mg sulfate or K sulfate. You supplement it during bloom....K sulfate can be delivered by a power in your feed at 1/4 tsp per gallon or by the liquid version of Terpinator/Resinator .. Search "home made terpinator/resinator here. Or for Mg sulfate use - search for home made Sweet Raw..

I've never made my own but have had great results with Terpinator and even better results combing Terpinator with Rock Resinator.

Really? @Greengenes707 does this as a matter of course using Jacks 3-2-1 in coco starting at full strength with clones in Smart pots. I've started doing it with my nutes since seeing his video. As long as your air exchange and light is high enough you should get enough transpiration where they'll wick up the extra no problem.

I'm in no way saying this is right for everyone, and it does depend on environment, but having plants wick up runoff won't kill them.

it's the 1st time I've done it I just wanted to see if she would consume the full ltr and a half and she did .yesterday I took to sitting them in the bath and gave her 3ltr and let her run off I did this with them all .its the 1st major water I have gave them to that extent most is a ltr n half. . I do add small amounts of coco boost but not every feed as I like to feed just water. . just want things to be right. .. as stated it's my first grow. . I have been trimming some leaves to give better light to sites lower. been using lst training .and I am wondering now in flower when to stop with this and remove ties

Its entirely up to the individual tbh mate depends what your out to get

I like to use a measured amount of water when manually watering coco, let it drain into a measuring jug and calculate how much stayed behind in the pot.
Then I use that as a baseline until I use a larger pot

I have lst trained them now for about 5 weeks I topped them prior. . they have come on really well I think ( but I'm a 1st time grower ) I was aiming for as many cola site's as possible to be at the top with an even conopy this I have achieved with 2 plants and on one of them looks to have at least 12 to 15 .then lower ones also. the other 2 well. they seem to do as they please hahaha. . but they all have grown in the week I have flipped to flower

You do not allow runoff to be used by the plant!

Do you regularly water for runoff in soil? I've only watered to get runoff 3-4 times. Once going into flower, once around week 4/5, then once or twice during the last week. Otherwise it's conservative feeding and watering. If I let them get too dry, I'll let them sit in the runoff until it's absorbed, then water again to leech. That's indoors.

My outdoor container plants sit in runoff most of the time, it's the only way I can assure they stay watered in the dead of summer. Even using chem ferts I've never seen any issues. But, again, I've always been very conservative with nutrients. I'd rather feed weak every other day, then one big dose and then water only a few times for a week.

No, almost never.....If I do, I wasn't paying attention.....I run organic. I'm doing a bit of synthetic testing again (nute line has me interested, Seeing what I can do with it). I never let any cannabis plant sit in runoff....

For your problem, I would water more often....

absolutely right abought the sugar and microbes. one thing i would add. sulfer is a ripener. the last few weeks the plants stop using mg and start using sulfur. personaly i wouldn't add sulfur until the last 2 weeks

Actually, Sulfur is used all through out the plants life. It is used so much and for so many differing reasons. It is being debated about making it a Macro nutrient!
I sat in on a conference about it, not to long ago.....Half the state away for a few hrs of discussion....I thought it was worth it.
