Girl scout cookies, cotton candy, mango etc etc...no one i know of in parts i have travelled actually give a shit about the flavour.
They all just care about POE TEN CEE.
Is it all in your head?
or does blueberry actually taste like blueberry.
Seems like theres not much difference to me. only a few strains have turned me off and ive thought that one was shithouse but other phenotypes different seeds, same strain have been the bomb.

Seems all cali and NYC people care about is flavour. where i live its potency. not disrespecting you people just seems odd and i look odd when i bring up flavour in my neck of the hood.

1)once we master our potency choices, the ones great for us, then its on to flavors of course. its actually all about flavanoids, odors, terpene profiles.
2)I've had super high thc tested that was no where near as pleasurable as a fine tasting selection with half of the thc perhaps.

3)In an area where growers are rushing, harvesting early, using chems, etc potency may be all anyone cares about, compared to the ill weed they're accustomed to? flavors not so important if the shit doesnt even get you high, but if done right it will always get you high, and flavors become very important, potency is taken for granted among my circle , of course its potent or else you wouldnt be growing it/passing it to the left hand side), and

4)potency is subjective, some love the heart racing creative effects while some cry like babies when they get it for example<

I was noting a breeding trend to super stinky strains my self......
Thing is, it's being discovered that high terp levels can mean stronger potency levels on differing levels/effects...
Terps effect taste, so then. Is the coastal trend towards "flavor" a move to weed strains with stronger effects/potency?

People want what they want and this varies by geographical location. No big surprise there....yet ^^^^

Why are there no strains that that are potent that dont stink or smell available? Seems like it could be done with a good seed breeder.
I think there would be a strong market for plants like that. All the undercover ninja growers would be interested. Cant just breed seeds for the super stinky free world. There would need to be a new entry at the canna-cups. Award goes to the least interesting bud there.

Grow some bud with organic soil and you'll get the flavors as they are supposed to taste. When the plants control their own absorption naturally, as opposed to being force fed nutrients, they exhibit the full range of strain characteristics. Synthetic nutes can alter the taste in my experience; seemed to me like after awhile they all had similar flavors. That is until I went to all worm fed organic growing.
Potency IMO has a lot to do with how long you ripen the bud and that is definitely strain specific. Pays to know your strains yet some are stronger than others

Water, fresh worm castings, and the occasional aerated compost tea. I add dry amendments to recycle the soil. That's it....
"Organic" nutes still force feed the plants...and the word organic is used way too loosely in the industry. I'm talking about growing in natural soil. Give it a try; you'll never go back to expensive bottles of dissolved salt. You don't get the yields you can from hydro but you will get much flava....

I have always thought that the industry being too big in the USA, all the fine details are a bit of a marketing scam. I've smoked weed from all over Europe and Middle-East, they all tasted about the same. It's burnt plant, after all. The only difference was the harhsness of the smoke. Then again, it's just my experience.

Uh, in my teen years i gave two shits about what strain gram sack i buy but my taste buds always lit the fuck up when i came across grand daddy purps or fruity pebbles. Yes that shit taste like straight up grapes & berries

Cherry pie,fruity pebbles,strawberry cough,pineapple express,shiska berry,flo,gdp all live up to their name if you actually get the original pheno.

You speak of a simple cultural difference, and while you sound nearly condescending, you also sound understanding.
I'm guessing your neck of the hood is in the UK or Canada. And you get attitude for discussing taste? Potency is king! I agree ... but it must taste good also. Food must be nutritious, but we won't eat it if it sucks.

Cannabis has evolved from (speeding ahead to the mid 20th century) Mexican pretty bad bag weed to hybrids that push the THC performance of the plant, which I'm not convinced means a better high. Along the way we developed an appreciation for subtle and not so subtle flavors. Some smoke tastes like identifiable fruit. But one man's lemon is another man's blueberry.

I've had potent hash that tasted so bad I didn't enjoy it. And delicious that didn't do much I guess balance is the key

Define potency, ive had weaker weeds that fucked me up better than some high grade strains.

If its too strong i end up going from straight to dribbling and that sucks because i love to spend a lot of time in the mind expanding stage appreciating the world around me rather than just killing my brain off...

I pick up on grapefruit, pineapple
Blue dream smells like fruity pebbles,
I'm stuck on Chem and diesel because I worked in the oil patch and actually know what crude, deisel, and kerosene(very different) smell like (soma sucks fruity Hawaiian ballz)
Never smelled a proper cherry and aside from that it's in your head lol
