Cato is selective in what they include from Washington's papers. Cato has an agenda, especially the Libertarian Boaz. Have you read the complete papers and correspondence? There was no such thing as libertarianism when Washington was president.

To finish your analogy, America still has the top ten thoroughbreds in the world just waiting to get let out. With all the European socialism that has taken root here in America, it has really tied our hands. We need to shed any threads of socialism, and get back to the constitution.

There are a lot of countries in the world. With the way America is going currently with defunding things like education and innovative alternative energy sources and throwing all that money into the military and "security"; it does seem like it might get left behind.
