Anyway...
Time for an update on the plants. It's been 3 days only, but still, a good 3 days.
Barney's Farm Pineapple Express, on day 17 from seed, Under the Budmaster cobx-6, running on half power / 3 cobs at 150w.
3ft tent, 25 litre pots

Sweet Seeds Sweet Skunk Auto's x 3 on day 17
2 closest are two x moby dick xxl auto's from Dinafem, same led, also on half power. These are 3 days younger on day 14. Very pleased considering they were planted later to make up for the 1 skunk that didn't pop. Catching up fast, with a very fast strain in Sweet Skunk auto!

Trainwrecks day 16 under the budmaster cobx-9. I'm running this on 250w. Also pics of 3 tangie auto's on day 1 (brown pots). 2 haven't pop'd yet, hopefully later today. I'm away later today for 2 1/2 days on a short caravan holiday.
2 of the Trainwrecks are just looking terrible. I don't really need to cull them yet.. I'm going to wait and see. I'll give you good odds the best 2 tangie auto's will be in their big pots by next week. I'm still watering the soil when I do the others to keep it balanced.
I was chatting to a guy in the hydro shop about bio bizz all mix (ec 2.4), he said something very interesting. If your seed germinates in part of the soil, which has a high food content in the direct area it is, it may burn, Where as some germinate in soil where the food isn't, so they thrive. Interesting point I thought. Anyway, that is my theory for 2 of these being complete and utter horse shit!
I'm kind of learning from them too... Anyway...

Drobe. Cobx-2 (100w) It's either on or off with this. But that's ok as it's only 2 cobs anyway.
2 x Moby Dick XXL auto's on day 12. Still got no clip on fan, no extraction in here. I'm such a lazy bastard!

75cm (2.5ftx2.5ft) veg tent for Brothers Grimm C99 elite clone. 70 litres of coco hydro 60-40.
Budmaster xg-2 (90w)
Btw this led is discontinued at Budmaster. Anyway, the core of the people watching know I'm f*ck all to do with Budmaster. Just making the point that why the hell would I have discontinued leds in my journal, if it was an advert? I actually really like the xg range. 3w epistar leds. Very plant friendly! Very cheap to run and very quiet!

your plants look great. That C99 from Bro's grim should be amazing. So here is what I'm excited about...
Blimburn Seeds Cindy x 5 (photoperiod fems)
All 5 in 25 litre pots. All 5 have plant supports fully set up.
Fresh all mix too, so they won't need feeding for ages. Gave them a nice plain water feed to bind them.
The 4 that were in air pots had visible roots at the edges, so I expect them to explode after being transplanted to square pots.
Budmaster cobx-9, 250w, each plant has a cob above her.

ThanksIm hitting the ignore button, what a waste of space/oxygen you turned out to be.
Looking good fez!
Yeah, I've grown her out 3 times and she's a beauty. Very good for mental illness. I've got some that has been jarred for 6 months. It's very strong, but very nice.your plants look great. That C99 from Bro's grim should be amazing.
Sweet seeds Sweet Tooth was one of the sweetest strains I ever smoked tasted like sugar. They do good work.
What are import costs like over there? I know you guys get nailed VAT and that jacks shit up. I imagine ordering a finished light is a lot more expensive than importing partsProblem in the UK is that budmaster are the only LED manufacturers selling any "new" style led's, every time I mention led's people think MARS. There's definitely place for some budmaster competition, Id like to do what cob kits does and offer a UK place to order what you need but I don't have the technical knowledge to offer advice. Ive tried sourcing parts from UK distributers but even that has been a challenge.
The USA is a good few years ahead in terms of infrastructure for these things. Not to say it's impossible to get stuff to the UK from the usa, or even China, but everyone knows they'd prefer somewhere local to purchase from. I can see why fevs has ordered these budmasters and it's definitely going to produce and be a good investment, the only argument for having gone vero or citizen is to save money, and potentially increase yields?.. but not all of us want to DIY electricals.
Digikey UK and mouser UK sell the cobs and drivers but not the round heat sinks - I couldn't find heat sinks locally anywhere in the UK. You can get aluninium extrusion from various places but you'd need to work out what you'd need yourself as we don't have the 5.886" that growmau5 talks about often. It's not as easy as heatsink usa make it on their site. Ive messaged a few suppliers and not even got a response. I even emailed digikey about Luminus' and I just got an automated response. What are import costs like over there? I know you guys get nailed VAT and that jacks shit up.
Digikey doesn't have a UK DC? That seems like a missed market opportunity for them. Yall need a digikey they get Cobs to my door in 1 day for $8 I'm spoiled as fuck It's amazing. That sucks you don't have the options. What about those pesky Germans? those fuckers are always trying to DIY something they don't have good electronics wholesalers?
When the money is gone, the money is gone! I spent it on Budmasters and have no regrets doing so!Problem in the UK is that budmaster are the only LED manufacturers selling any "new" style led's, every time I mention led's people think MARS. That's the same reason i spent over $300 on a ballast I could have got online for $150. Having lights is important I get it.When the money is gone, the money is gone! I spent it on Budmasters and have no regrets doing so!
Why?
I haven't done the grow yet. No reason to think I cannot get better results than other cobs. I aim high people. Not being funny, but in the blurple led game, when Osram were kicking every led's as in the world, for the last 4-5 years, where were cree? I've used the god4 and also used the advanced led xml150, similar led, but the god led was far superior to the xml150. California lightworks using osram leds. The people that invested in those love them and grow loads of great bud with them! I didn't see anything in the same ball park as Osram then. So why would Osram cobs suddenly just become crap...? Maybe they ain't, just a decent grower need to do a grow with them to put them on the map.
Even the anxiety of it breaking with having a warranty which involves air mail just is a NO NO! So on to the point of who else is there? Grow northern 75w leds? No thanks... Plantphotonics, More expensive than Budmaster, for a real diy looking build which are severelt overrun. There is nobody else here in the UK!
Put it this way, if my leds that cost a lot of money break, I can drive for 2-3 hours north, get them fixed. Stay there in the Budmaster car park in my campervan until they are done!
What do the EB strips compare to? Are they like the quantums? The knowledge curve for led's is pretty sharp lolThat's the same reason i spent over $300 on a ballast I could have got online for $150. Having lights is important I get it.
I figured you guys would have more access to this shit. If you got some time on your hands and feel like reading on the new hotness, everyone seems to be clamoring over these EB Strips from Bridgelux. They are like $8CAD a piece have built in solder-less connectors and put off next to no heat, they don't require heatsinks. I mounted some to a cookie sheet and they are only slighty warm on the other side.
I'm going to be honest, I haven't done all the reading on the EB strips. I just ordered a few to see what they would do. It cost me a little over $100 CAD I think to get 7 strips with 4 drivers to power them. What do the EB strips compare to? Are they like the quantums? The knowledge curve for led's is pretty sharp lol
I use whatever it takes to get my grows going as they are a source of enjoyment for me (the actual grow & the harvest icing on the cake) I see lots of grows & methods, ideas & equipment & in my mind I might differ in opinion a good example is the mars leds which are known to be less than ideal but that being said I've seen some grows done with them that I'm envious of I wouldn't get excited over people's opinions you have ideas & methods I say run with them, enjoy the grow & share the experience that's as far as I'm concerned is what it's really all aboutHealthy looking ladies you have there!
Yeah I kind of just take all the sales talk with a pinch of salt... It's like a competition where every company wants the most par in the world! So they all go for it. It ends badly for us growers
Some led companies will put lenses in their led panels which are too much light, directed straight down. Not to make the plants happy, to improve their stats. In the end, we adjust to how they made it, 'my cobs are also' working better further away. Plus they are still on half power. I think my plants will be too compact if veg'd on full power, but seem to have the perfect node spacing on half power. So I was using 3500w on 24-0, now using under 1kw for 1 month, then will be more for flowering.
I'm saving over £60 a week easily on electricity! Probably using the same as a place where weed isn't even being grown. Nice change that is!
Getting ready to take my dogs to the lake & traded my way into a 315 cmh so I'll be running led & cmh anyway enjoy your tripThat's the spirit @horribleherk
I normally get one or 2 question my ways of growing. I've got mental illness and do most things differently. I don't say 'grow like me', more like - 'this is how I grow'. I usually just do things the most simple way. Like my set up's now, simple as can be!
I've had some great results under blurple leds myself. I've also seen some nice grows done under mars led. The best led growers adapt fast, have very good knowledge of the environment and can read plants.
If you get an average led growing a plant, with the perfect temperature and humidity, it will still do great! I think it's much easier creating the perfect environment under led, than it is hid lighting.
These 3ft tents are nice to grow in. From go they have been the healthiest plants I have here. The auto's in those are flying!
It's not always about growing the most. I grew too much weed last grow. In fact I'm concerned the nearby village that takes most of the weed in bulk, will still be smoking that last lot when this is ready... This yield should be closer to what I actually need. Last grow was a bit stupid and was too much!
Just having a break from packing the campervan.
Hope you all have a great weekend, I'll do an update early next week.
Good shit bro what size are the tomatoes cages , I want to experiment those and really manage a canopy. That's the spirit @horribleherk
