I have read, searched, looked at charts for hours the last 2 days before posting so please excuse any redundancy you feel I have incurred....20170511_003750.jpg 20170511_003847.jpg

This is my first coco coir grow ever. I am running hempy style with perlite mixed in. PH is 6, floranova bloom has been all Ive used.

Just transplanted 6 days ago & gave em a good watering twice since then. To runoff. I added normal FNB dosage PLUS a bit of molasses & 4tsp per 5 gallons of epsom salt the last watering. (Because I thought maybe mag def based on earlier info..) Theyve been in flower for about 10 days. Temps are at 74 under 4x1000 hps. 50% humidity usually.

I had been adding calmag at 2-3 ml per gallon up until transplant, I stopped, thinking plants were showing signs of magnesium deficiency, I think I slowly overdosed them with too much calcium which started locking out the magnesium. Because my water contains like 120ppm already yet I was supplimenting calmag every watering. New leaves seemed to be skinny & stunted. Old leaves yellowing & brown spotting.

The floranova has been at 5ml per gal on the mature plants in flower. 3 days ago I watered them heavily to run off & they drooped more, still drooping today. I havent watered them since because Im afraid of making it worse... I dunno how to call it. New growth is slow, thin & twisty, alot of the old veins are purple too... although I am growing alot of purple variety, even some of the non purps have it too......

So the bottom line is... the plants need HELP! And Im getting worried & stressed over em. Lot of good genetics in here & alot of money tied up in everything. Any help is greatly welcome at this point. Thank you!

I also watered the new seedlings to runoff in their mini hempy containers, had been giving them calmag & ph'd water til last time. They were looking hungry yellow leaves, gave them their 1st small dose of FNB & they also recieved the epsom salt & molasses....how they were/are looking:20170511_004015.jpg 20170511_004007.jpg 20170511_004001.jpg

Something must be done. Just not sure what so Ive not messed with them anymore, decided to try my luck here with a discussion. before I do anything else.. this is alot harder than soil lol.

I'm no expert but it looks like you're starving them to death. They really needed grow nutes all the way through stretch before you go to bloom nutes. Nuted or organic soil being the exception. Coco, always.

Usually, yellowing from the bottom like that means a serious lack of N.

Really? Hm, I find it interesting because I read of using flora nova bloom all the way through in coco with good results from alotta different folks.. They were looking exceptional until about the last 2 weeks or so things have declined a good bit it seems. They looked much healthier about 85% through entire veg with some very slight yellowing on lower leaves here & there. But it wasnt like this, the newer growth started acting funny right before transplanting, twisting a bit & looking thin... & seems to be worse now in 12/12.
You're essentially saying I need to hit them with more than 5-6 ml of floranova bloom per gallon to correct this? Resume with calmag again or just epsom salts?

My tap is ppm about 150 before starting which is why I thought maybe I had over done it adding calmag every feeding potentiality locking out mag... which is why I recently stoped calmag & added epsom salts with 5ml floranova bloom per gallon.

Im afraid to even water em right now, it sucks!

I'm not saying what you should do. Could be lockout for all I know.

Are you watering daily? Maybe they're using the nutes up way before you water?

I'm on my first coco hempy's growing auto amnesia using canna coco nutes. I've had minor issues here (low on calmag early on) and there (burnt them a bit) due to playing with nute levels. I don't check PPM's and I stopped checking PH after about 10 waterings. I check maybe once a week now. Also using tap water. I water and feed everyday with approx 12ml (mostly canna stuff and lot's 'o calmag+) of varying things per gallon of water. My plants are happy and almost 4' tall @ about 42 days old.

Also, pretty sure molasses is for feeding stuff in soil.

Pic is a week + old. They're 8" taller and in full flower now.

Came in tonight, flipped thr lights...

Looks like its getting a bit worse. More extreme yellow, & some spotting on the bottom yellow, few of em have shriveled up & died. Damn....

I cant decide to use calmag or magnesium next watering now... dont want to make it worse.

I guess tonight I will hit them with 8ml floranova bloom & see what happens.

Should I start calmag again?
..I also have some Equilibrium I could use..

I'd give them a good hearty feeding. Toss in about 4ml calmag per gallon.

Do you have a drain hole in those hempys? Watering to enough runoff to replace the stagnant water? Starting to wonder if you have a root issue.

Yes about 2 inches up & resevoir consists of perlite only. I usually water for a little runoff. Like 20% or so. There is no stagnate water in the resevoirs its all been used up it looks like, I checked last night for any by turning a plant sideways & nothing ever leaked outta the drainage hole.

I hope its just underfeeding... it definitely worsened much more rapidly after transplant & switching to 12/12.. I suppose the flower stretch & need for more food has hastened their condition the last few days.

Now Im seeing why so many people were talking about coco being a pain in the ass. My soil grows have never been as problematic as this coco grow is surely becoming.

See, I'm having the opposite experience with coco. It's a totally different beast than soil. The fact that I'm using nutes formulated for coco is likely a big advantage. I love how quick things happen. Signs of def? Up the nutes. Signs of burn, flush and drop 'em. Better or worse in 12-24 hours. I'm doing a thousand times better with coco than soil. lol

The lack of nutes and not enough calmag over time coupled with a transplant to fresh coco without a healthy dose of calmag/nutes is what I think you have going on.

Replace those nutes every day and always add calmag and I bet they get better in no time. :bigjoint:

I gave them a healthy feeding & calmat treatment 2 days ago and well... things seem basically the same... they just will not reach for the lights & un curl. So ridiculous...20170513_050206.jpg

I ordered cns17 today because this stuff is just annoying the shit out of me. Its the coco coir you get in the brick from home depot online. I usually flush it before use. Im so tired of fighting this medium & these plants don't seem to want to act right. 20170515_034406.jpg 20170515_034358.jpg 20170515_034232.jpg 20170515_034225.jpg

Yeah its coir with perlite added.
Do you think the addition of perlite is part? Coco needs watering daily to maintain the nutes i believe, so maybe it's just passing by? Just a guess. Also, from what I've read , coco is hot out of the bag. Did you flush it ?

I think it helps oxygen to the roots. But maybe I need to hit them more often with food. Shits crazy.

I flushed it. I flushed with ph water.

I underestimated this medium, goimlng off of soil hempy. And also Ive done straight perlite in hempy.... used floranova bloom just like now. Hate how deficiencies can look like all kinds of other shit, its annoying trying to figure it out because Im just watching them, throwing more money on more shit while they act like they arent improving.

This is why I went with Canna Coco nutes. I tried Go Box organic nutes in coco last grow. Nothing but misery and headaches. I figured nutes made for coco should make life easier and it has.

Well I have cns17 grow & bloom on the way now, will be feeding that as soon as it arrives.

I wonder if the brand of coco Im using is part of the headache too. Its via grow 11lb brick. Im thinking of trying a new coco because Im almost outta this stuff...

Feed them some N.

They need N all the way through. Even flowering plants need N. Should have used grow at least through stretch.

The stretch burns through a lot of N.

Woah, Instead of feeding again, what you should do is flush all of those very very well with plan PH'd water..... completely... Then after a day or two, watching soil moisture level, and reactions, on the next feeding start with some readily available nitrogen (nothing slow release.) Then again, after a day or two checking moisture, and reaction, Then MAYBE consider adding some of your nute cycle feed.

Also, those seedlings are experiencing the same exact thing it looks like... Seedlings should have plenty of nutes for the first few weeks, long enough for them to get bigger than that, then start with a heavier than water feeding...

Lighten up on all feedings and only do it when it seems like she needs something. Sounds like your adding too much to fix existing problems and instead just causing more and more.

Plain PH water... do it til they recover, once they do, then start with the feeding... But for now, Flush very well to get any potential lock out of nute in your soil, out.

Good luck, keep us updated.

I have never grown in Coco. But those plants look very overwatered to me. My 2 cents.
