When your lights go out from the timer in your tent, should the outtake fan shut off as well? the oscillating fans stay on but not sure about the filter/fan combo?

I keep mine on. Constant air exchange (ventilation). The fans are for circulation of the exchanged air.

Without ventilation the same air is being pushed around by the fans. It's not fresh air.

No, you need constant ventilation & humidity control . You don't want stale air, I think that could lead to mold issues.

Any serious grower will have temp and RH controls on the exhaust fan. Without the addition of CO2 a grow space full of plants will exhaust the CO2 they need in a few minutes and just stop growing so it's fans on to draw in fresh air or add CO2.

What you want is a delicate balance between the heat generated by your lighting, the needs of your plants regarding heat, light and relative humidity and their need for CO2. Not easy to do just right but if you can keep it decent you shouldn't have problems.

Ideally the room air should be replaced 3 or 4 times each hour for a bunch of plants. A tent chock full of heavily vegging plants or plants in the stretch might need more frequent changes of air to keep up the pace and reduce heat and RH. The one time I manually blasted my grow room with CO2 during stretch blew me away how fast things grew.

With hundreds of plants under my belt I still strive to better my grow room environment and get the most out of my efforts.

Keep the oscillating fan on 24/7.

You do one last exhaust at lights out and you don't need to run any venting till lights on!
Even gassing........Circulation fans only.

Thanks All! this has been informative. Seedlings have sprouted (black indica) and in a couple days Ill transfer to red cups. Everything learned is through trial and error. Im just trying to keep the error to a low. Cheers!

Yea but at night it's not affecting the plant like during the day - No photosynthesis to be effected! It should be taken care of by the first exhaust at lights on! The worry about RH can also be PM. Constant attention to RH is overseen by a proper sized dehumidifier. In a tent situation. You simply set a timer to run all lights on and then exhaust every 2 hrs for a cpl of min during lights out if your actually getting that problem.........I run some tents in my breeding area. They all shut off at an hr after lights out, and turn on an hr after lights on. I've got no problems in that place - tent or open room.

Secondly: If your gassing, the environmental controller is still doing it's job...Just not triggering gas to hit set levels in the dark.

First you said just one exhaust at lights out & now you're saying every 2 hours ( if needed) thing is no 2 environments will be the same. Running a box fan in a hot tent during lights out won't cut it for everyone, not my tent I have to run the inline ( on low speed) the entire lights out or the humidity will rise to 80 ( with 2 regular fans running) Old Meds is right about this one. I tried what you said... the humidity almost knocked me out when I opened that tent.

Reset it to shut down an hr after the lights out and try it like that.... I give a 2 hr method for those who fear RH for PM reasons. The plant and the RH, have very little to do with each other at night! RH is a photosynthesis regulator that is linked to the temp, and only has impact effect during lights on or when the plant is photosynthesizing.

I also control my RH by dehuey.....I understand tents can be great, I use them for specific use, in a specific place. Mine run as stated. hr after lights out and restart for the day, an hr after lights on. I'm doing it like nature does at night. Initial drop and a rise to a dew point in the mourning. I don't get a "dew" but you get the idea, right?

For production. Exhaust only cycles to pull Co2 into the room.....RH is controlled by dehuey - 24-7....Different place altogether.
