Muffin fans: How to run electrical to them?

Hey
I am interested in having 6 to 12 small muffin fans for my future grow room. Was curious, how would I go about getting power to them? The only muffin fans I know of, run off of CPU power supply (which I don't have a spare)

Anyone electrician handy or know some other small fans that are good for venting?

Just buy a 12 volt DC power supply, 5 amps should do it for about 20 fans. Google 12vdc power supply, prolly get 10000000000000000 hits.

12 muffin fans? good lord why would you want that many dinky little fans.

if yer gonna use the muffin fans look for the 120VAC ones that have the metal fan blades. i wouldn't recomend the cheap plastic ones. If you want to use the 12VDC fans then get a 12VDC adapter that has a good amperage rating. that way you can use it to power more fans. You want a 1 AMP /1000 mA DC adapter. you can power several small box/muffin fans with this.

why not get a qualilty bathroom fan or small inline fan? if you plan on growing for a while you are going to be replacing those stupid litttle muffin fans quite often. The bearings fail easily in the hot, humid conditions. and ther louder as they get older.

ya, i agree, a 12V power supply would be great and they are handy to have around the house.

It never even crossed my mind to use a bathroom fan or inline fan... Great idea. I will look into that too. But thanks for the useful info on the muffin fans too.

dude. the best fan i have ever bought is the Nutone Elite bathroom fan. they come in 90 and 110 CFM. true CFM though. these suckers hardly bog down at all. I have mine pushing through 8 feet of 4 Inch duct and it works like a charm. Best of all. it has the lowest sone (loudness) rating of any fan on the market. you cant hear the motor whatsoever, all you can hear is the air coming out the other end of the duct. next time yer in Home Depot check out the high end bathroom fans. they are untouchable when it comes to silence and they move a LOT of air. mine is rated for 90 CFM but man, the thing fills my cheeks with air and bulges them out when i hold it near my face.

I also own a 4 inch Vortex inline fan, its powerful as hell, but it sounds like a small jet-plane turbine engine for fuck sakes. I could not beleive how loud it was compared to my Elite bathroom fan. lol. Its twice as powerful mind you.

so get a quality bathroom fan if you want ultra stealth, or an inline fan if you need the power to carbon scrub.

the only shitty thing is you cant really use the bathroom fans with a carbon scrubber. the CFMs just aren't there.
