i think its fine and if people dont like his choice of words they dont have to watch his show.hbo should let the viewers decide if they renew his contract.why is it a bad word for bill to use on a show in ANY context but its ok for most rappers to use it in their songs, and lil white teens sing along to those songs over and over? or hearing dave chappelle use the word to describe obama on SNL,nobody got mad about that so who cares what bill maher says on his show.he's on hbo for a reason,he wanted to be able to use adult language.

Why would you be offended when he said it? Hell, you say it hundreds of times each day in your personal life.

For the record: Big fan of Bill. He shouldn't have dropped the n bomb, but firing him is a bit drastic. The word isn't even in my vocabulary, I won't even type it in full.
Caucasians should never mess around with this hideously demeaning word, imho. And for those that prescribe to the "well THEY use it when talking about each OTHER, so why can't I??" mindset, well, you just aren't getting it, to put it as nicely/diplomatically as I can.
I've got family and friends (brown & black folks) that'll use this word in reference to me, consistently, and I'm not into it at all. Makes my skin crawl, frankly.
I worked as a partner with a black man for years, and he called me his "nigger" all the time.
Once in a great while, I would reciprocate and call him the N word in jest, and we would both laugh, because we both understood it was just in jest.
He understood that, just like I understood it, but it should not be taking lightly at anytime, so maybe the black comedians should use it more sparingly also, and help to make it go away altogether.
It's really not a nice word, no matter who say's it.

But if it's used in context to make a point it's different.

Bill didn't call someone it or use it in an anyway derogatory way, the outrage should be saved for all the old white guys on the right genuinely trying to fuck them over.

You've got to be able to see the glaring hypocrisy here, right?

"Every once in a while I'll call my female friends stupid cunts."
"NO one should ever use the word cunt, it's just not a nice word."

He's obviously a racist cunt, sack him. He was appalled at being invited to work the fields in Nebraska and associated this work with African American slaves.
White tears from bills fans, doesn't look so cool smoking pot on air when you know he's a racist
