I was wondering whats the best type of soil to use...i currently have Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil and ProMix BX...on my prior grow i out sprouts directly into fox farms ocean forest...and had issues to whole way..i picked up a bad of the ProMix to run a 50/50 ratio but was told after i bought it that it to has amendments. I think it makes it more difficult to add nutes after a month or more seeing as even at a quarter strengh the plants srill seem to burn.Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you wana stick with FF products ....they have a seedling starter called happy frog .....I use it to start my beans ....IMO it runs out of goodies in the soil quite fast ...but it's always worked great for me ....il go 3 to 4 weeks ((tops))in the happy frog and then into FFOF ......hope that helps GL

Do you continue to give the plants nutrients after the move to the FFOF?

K ....so happy frog has everything a seedling needs to get going and healthy .....so I personally will go three weeks in the HF without feeding and then I transplant into the ffof ......remember the ffof has enough goodies in it to last about a month or so ......so I don't give any extra food to the plants until they've been in the ffof for around a month ......and then I start at 1/4 strength feedings and go from there .......I also add a little perlite and cal to my ffof ....not necessary but I do it to avoid any possible cal/mag issues later on....

No problem .....it just so happens that's exactly what I've been using for a very long time now .......these are some extra babies I didn't have room for in the green houses ....I shared them a day or so ago .....all these were done exactly how we talked about .....still eating from the ffof alone .....nothing added besides what in the soil image.jpg

I actually am trying to reuse my ffof ...for the first time this year .....I have always piled it up on my ranch for many many years .....needless to say it's not cheap buying new each year to fill giant smart pots .....so I'm experimenting with recycling ffof using DTE products .....so far so good ....but will see what happens in comparison at the finish line .....GL

Happy growing
