Strawberry Cough Outdoors

So I started these two strawberry coughs from seed two to three weeks ago in the Joe's cups. They spent the day outside and the nights under a 40w Hg Aquarium light. When thin roots became visible down the sides of the cups I pruned back the larger ones as well as the tap root on the bottom. This happened about 5 days ago an now hey they are. Just looking for genreal info I've never seen the brownish purple on the plant after I planted the seeds I checked my remaining soil and a few long slender mushrooms grew from the surface as well as some pinned on the sides of the bag. Is this fungus damage I noticed two mushroom pins in the side of my pot and eradicated the area of them and gently packed on more soil. Sooo whats up please help. Thanks

Well, 1st off I wouldn't have never messed with the root zone. I would've just replanted her. 2nd what type of soil do you have her in she definitely shouldn't being showing signs of a deficiency this early.! Also, have you feed her

No feeding done here just tap water from our well. Attached is the soil bag. Note the nutrients in the lower left corner. Maybe a vermacompost tea for a feeding? thoughts?

Without being disrespectful i think you need to go and do alot of research on what you are doing. Although most scream how weed will grow anywhere in anything there is limits. Invest a little time in research and invest a little money in products to get a worth while grow at the end of it, outdoor growing is very cheap and with enough research nature will provide all.. good luck

IMHO, I'd add more soil to the pots, up to the cotyledon's and water less. The roots will re-grow under the new soil and advance upwards. I've had shrooms popping up before, but couldn't decide if the soil I bought had been used for growing them in the past.
I wouldn't piss-fart with the roots again, mate.

Usually seedlings don't need any type of nutrients. However if you see that the cotyledons are falling away, or browing up that's my sign that it's usually time to start feeding small amounts, atleast until I can get them built up to a barman dose of nutrients. To me she looks as if she needs some food. I would top dress with some new soil, and feed with the compost tea you mentioned.

Could you offer some insight as to why you are against pruning of roots? Nurserys have done it forever with profitable results. Not to mention the sheer root mass that comes after back building the root system. Maybe it was a little early to practice but, I plan to continue to root prone once they are solid in veg all the way until I put these two I the groud.

Pretty much if there is a attribute of soil grows I've read about it. The only problem is this this the first year that other restrictions have allowed me to cultivate and plant seed. If I'm missing something please let me know. Obviously I looked over something pretty important sooooo.... what is it?

Filled up and watered in the tea left a layear of compost on top as to allow for continuous feeding upon further watering and rain fall Thanks for the advice post in a week with status report

I dont pretend to be a professional by any means but i would have thought cutting the tap root of a seedling is like cutting the head off of a baby and wondering why it isn't growing... during the seedling stages the roots are very fragile and important, cutting roots at this age with mj will shock her so bad i dont think there could be a way back. The colour/spots may be from lack of nutrients, in seedling stages the plant needs very little nutrients to keep going and will get this from the soil without any help from you, however where her roots have been cut she may not be able to take up any of the nutes with the little root system she has left, if there is mushrooms in your soil it must be extremely wet and the last of your roots struggling to deal with it also causing problems..... mushroom spores in your soil shouldnt be a problem because your soil should not be that wet... what would i suggest ? Start again with a premixed soil for mj or make your own medium with organic soil, perlite, guano ect. The soil you have used is a basic potting soil and will hold alot of water! Your plants like airy soil with lots of room to move around as a beginner i would suggest you use the biobizz range and leave the roots to do their own thing.
