Need Advice on 20 Ton Press

Looking to buy a 20 ton press and need some advice:

Are any of these presses decent? Will all work with an air compressor/pneumatic system?

Most press plate kits should work on any press. If you are looking to buy a quality press go with Dake or Bureleigh(?spelling)
As far as cheap presses go they are more than likely all the same. Best deal i found was harbor freight with 20% off coupon. For a plate kit check out timewizard_greyfox on instagram. Top notch plates you wont get bent over for on price! Im working on plate/heater/controller setups with pre press mold included but will be a bit before im ready for production

How much are you looking to be able to press? You may not need 20 tons. I could be wrong but i believe the formula is 1000 lb per sq in. Of material/ 2 grams per square in. 2x4 plates= 8" sq=16 grams=8,000 lbs. to be safe, a 12 ton press would handle this and you would be able to potentially press 3-4 grams of rosin in 1 squish! Strain/quality dependent.

I can get the Baleigh for a good price but it's still a bit over my budget. The Sunex is about the same MSRP as the Baleigh, and I found a killer deal on one that puts it in my budget. Anyone know how the Sunex compares to the Baleigh?

I will check out timewizard for plates, if I can save money there perhaps the Baleigh will be an option.

One more thing, when you say 1000lb per sq inch, is it better if I get a 4x7 plate and use smaller bags (3x5 bags) or better to match the bag size to the plate size?

Your puck and bags should allow for 1/2" all the way around for the size of your plates. So for 3x5 plates, your puck would be 2x4. Same formula as above. You could do alot with the dake 10 ton press, that would save you some coin right there. Timewizard_greyfox would be able to match your plates to that press and you would have a very nice setup for a fraction of any pre made unit out there. And better. I see 3x5 plates on harbor freight press that have been painted going for 1,500. Funk dat! Im building mine around harbor freight presses, theyre affordable and get the job done, but no setup on that platform should be over 1,000. 7-800, setup, ready to go. At most. Steer clear of the 500$ plate kits on ebay as well. Heat elements and pids can be had for less than 100$. With 20$ in aluminum and a tap/drill bit you can make it yourself.
