are vented hood obsolete ?

just out of curiosity, are vented hood obsolete^? I grow with LEDs and dont plant on using HPS or MH but I see that none of the gavitas come with vented hood? do they run much cooler than they used to? or what am I missing?

Gavitas are commercial equipment. If you have the means to be commercial, you shouldnt be using vented hoods. Vented hoods are for smaller grows to manage heat. They have their place, its just more specific than people think. Just my 2 cents.

Gavita makes all-in-one lighting units.. You need to find out what hoods work with phillips 5x6ct bulbs.

Yes it looks like they are. The glass blocks about 20% of light. Still useful for a harvest but there are better more efficient lights now.

With a well designed reflector it is more like 5%

The uv -b is more compromised than other spectrums.

If my memory is correct, the Gavitas aren't cooled on purpose. They need to run at a certain temp to get the correct output spectrum and cooling drops them below the optimal temps. They are also usually run much higher above the canopy so direct heat from lamps isn't as much as an issue. I believe they spec a 10' ceiling height, but it's been awhile since I looked into therm.

Vented hoods are geared towards the hobby/ home grower that need to control heat in a smaller space.
