Using 4 citi 1212 3000k to Veg seedlings - not going well...

Hey all

I am using 4 1212 3000k 90 CRI at 50 watts each on my seedlings.
I have the cobs about 12-15inch away from the seedling canopy.

Alot of the leaves on my seedlings are looking deformed, they are crinkly and wierd shaped.
In the past I have used CFL(250W) and MH(600W) and rarely get this issue.(sometimes it comes one maybe 2 out of 40 plants, so I ignore it)

However I have around 40 seedlings, and they are all beginning to do head in this deformed direction.

Some of the edges of the leaves also curl up and inwards...

Is this likely from the LEDS? or could it be the soil?

@HydoDan yes light is dimmable, il raise light for the time being.

@PSUAGRO There is not plenty of aeration in the mix, as my delivery of perlite didnt happen... Is poor aeration a common cause of deformed leaves? I doubt its a room temp issue because temps are fine, room temp basically.

are they dark green and crinkly all over or light green and crinkly where the leaves come together

@CobKits They are a nice dark color green... Thats whats wierd about it and led me to think it maybe the LEDS...

They do not show nutrient deficiency in the color atleast... also the color is consistent pretty much all over. Apart from the very first baby leaves beginning to go light green from dark green

We need more info what size space too? I am using (2) 6500K 1212's in my 2x4 veg closet and feel like I need a third light but having no issues. My light is about 3 feet above the cloner though..........

how does your cloner like the 6500k? better or worse than what youve used in the past.

nobody really posts much about high K cobs
So far with preliminary testing the results seem close to the Blue MH I just think I need a third one in my space for some more vigor. I have tested 5000K 3590's in the past with great success as well.

@Maersk Does your plants weird growth look like this?P1020137.JPG
If so I have the same issue using a the Citi 1212 5000k. Couldn't get any answers so I went back to the blurple. No more weird growth since then. I'm sure their were other contributing factors, but the evidence shows there was something up with the cob light too.

Looks like that plant did some re-veg.. Is it a clone? I use 2x citi 1812 5000k leds for veg.. They work great... But I also cooked the cot leaves off a seeding by being too close..

You must be too close with the light..........I'm about 3 feet from the cloner but my 1212's can touch the plants in veg (6500K) and not burn them like my old T'5's could..........not getting any excess stretch thus far being so far away which was a concern for me. A lot less stretch so far than expected too with the 3500K 1812's in flower

Looks just like reveg but I guarantee you its not. 7 weeks old at that pic. That plant is from seed along with 5 others, were under 1 single Citi 1212 5000k for about 4 weeks. I expected them to stretch a little but they did not. 3 of them grew weird like that the other 3 had regular leaves albeit still small. Couldn't figure it out for shit. Added some cfls with minimal improvement. Even though they are small the roots are just great, nice white and thick hairy roots when I transplanted. After I canned the cob and put them under an led panel growth rate drastically increased and new growth is now normal. Still cant figure out what happened there. Could it be the driver I used? Also the light was about 35 inches away from them.

I ran a seedling test with my COB @ 54watts... I started at 16" and moved it down daily.. 10-12" seemed to be optimum
and 8" showed burns.. 4" seedling lost first true leaves and died for science.. During veg they can handle 4" just not seedlings..

@ChefKimbo That pic shows looks very similar, Warped leaves, asymmetrical, Crinkly texture...
Although id say mine are worse as your plant leaves dont curl up and inwards at the edges...

Im not too happy with these cobs right now... Hoping that its another issue at fault.

using cobs for seedlings lower intensity is better I have found. I use cobs but only at maybe 25w/sf and 36" away from seedlings. I have gotten some of the leaf curl from various cob setups. I think that is more of heat or too much light issues. Just dim the cobs and give them some distance, and all should be ok.
