Help! Plants aren't looking up to par.

Outdoor grow, I'm not sure of the age of this plant but I'm guessing it's around 30-40 days old. Was doing great when I left for the weekend and came back to be quite bummed and slumped as to what to do. The fan leaf stems are purple on top but not on the bottom and their seems to be some spots on the leafs as well. I'm new to this and I've been doing a lot of research trying to teach myself but sometimes you just have to ask someone with experience. I've grown the plant with only water since seed untill yesterday I hit it with its first nutrient feeding and a calmag folier spray mix at sundown. the new growth seems stunned as well. The leaves aren't filling out like normal and have a brighter green color on the inside of the new growth and some are "canoeing" Not sure what to do. any suggestions?

Put them in a bigger pot with a high quality soil mix. New leaves should be lime green, normal. Canoeing can be a sign of too much heat or too low humidity, but it expresses more at the edges. Yours are probably just monster size leaves that have not gotten to their size yet. Looks pretty good overall, good luck!

Thanks bug. It's in a 5 gallon bucket now. I guess I'll look for something bigger. And try to find a good soil. Thanks for the help and yeah I Live in Nc and it has been in the 90s with about 50-65% humidity. So it's probably the heat

Sorry, didn't see they were in 5 gallon buckets, just top them off with fresh dirt to the top. A 5 gallon transplant is pretty tricky unless they are good and root bound, so would not recommend. Don't be afraid to water everyday if they need it, the watering rules of inside growing do not apply here! Cheers!

Bug I took your advice and added some soil and water. Things seem to get worse. I'm waiting on my ph and Ppm tester to arrive so I can start ph balancing the water and nutes. The top growth is just looking pitiful and now some of the lower leaves are not going to well and I'm starting to see spots on some of the leaves. Any idea what could be the problem? Thanks man

You might have some russet mite damage on those top leaves. Misc. other bug damage, so some pest treatments are needed. New dirt should help but I would add some magnesium and then some nitrogen a little further down the road if they aren't staying green.

I believe you had an iron or zinc issue, causes thin spare growth. I was seeing similar things on my plants and have since sprayed with iron zinc spray and an epsom salt in case it was mag and it snapped outta it. Foliar sprays are safer because you wont blast them with something they dont need. Try to stay below 250 ppm to be safe

Have you been ph'ing your water micro can be blocked out on the higher end of ph scale. Also, if youre using RO/ distilled water you should add small amount cal mag to your water it helps PH read and gives them that little bit extra they need. I agree with bugeye on new soil if theyve used up whats in it already

He's in dirt, really no need to ph the water or nutes. Whatever his dirt ph is, that is what his water ph will be shortly after applying.

Is that why they say dont ph organics...they always shoot to like pure acid and im like yea not going to add that. So water has little to no effect on ph fluctuations is what youre saying correct? Are there any phs that would be outside a certain range?

Exactly, dirt out buffers the ph of the water, simply overpowers it. You can change a soils ph by adding ph water, but it takes a very long time to get the soil ph to change, much longer than a typical grow cycle. So in organic so you make sure your soil ph is good, and then you extend the ph uptake range by inoculating with myco fungi, no more ph problems!

Ok awesome sorry to thread jack, I am very interested in harvesting fungi from the natural area. Do you have any experience working with IMOs? I plan on being organic but I may end up with just using Maxibloom and compost teas to keep the soil alive. Of course not overdue it with the ferts, id like to reuse the soil it was very very expensive lol

What is the "Dirt" she is in ?
Until these questions are answered everything else is just an uneducated guess. Calcium,magnesium,phosphorus and N for starters. Flea beetle and or caterpillar damage also. My guesses. Good luck

I'd say iron if I look at the light coloured veins.
You can get iron chelate from the nursery section, usually with the orchid food.

I've decided today when I get home I will be transplanting into new soil. It's not in dirt it's in potting soil (miracle grow) and yes I know it's shit and I'll never use it again. Will be going with happy frog soil in this transplant. I'm waiting for my Ph and Tds meter to get here and I will be balancing all my water and nutes I have CalMag by botonicare I'm going to give it when those meters are here. All I have fed the plant is water and one gallon of week 3 nutes which I measured out using foxfarms charts. I have used a neem oil foliage spray for about a week or two once a week. And I don't see to much bug activity. But I'm thinking it's either fungus gnats or these other gnats that are usually between the new growth and stems. I just started low stress training. I'm also thinking that probably stunt the growth. Who knows. When I get these meters in I will test the water coming from my soil so I can have somewhere to start. Thanks for all the help guys. I don't want to kill a plant that's over 3 foot tall and is still a baby. Would be a big girl.

Just water untill last week I gave it its first dose of week 3 nutes measured out by foxfarms nutrient charts. It's in miracle grow (bullshit) I'll never use it again. I use neem once a week as a spray and I don't see much bug activity. But I did notice a bug that looks kind of like lady bugs but they are not lady bugs. Is that the beetle your talking about? Anyway I will deff keep you guys posted as soon as my meters come in. Basically I'm just shooting in the dark not knowing what my water balance is. Thanks for the help
