I randomly have done this, not for any good reasonNewbie here wondering if starting a seedling directly in hydroton after it has germinated would be better than waiting for roots to hit the reservoir through root cubes or rockwool.
I start off with 200 ppm, as soon as the seed cracks.Do you use nutrients in the first week of seedlings sprouting in rock wool I'm a noob so plz help
I'm using distilled water and general hydroponics Began Go box Are U familiar with itI start off with 200 ppm, as soon as the seed cracks.
Nope, Ive been mixing my own nutes for years.I'm using distilled water and general hydroponics Began Go box Are U familiar with it
the Go Box by General Hydroponics is designed to be used on soil applications only , the product will turn out bad if used in hydro . i know from past experienceI'm using distilled water and general hydroponics Began Go box Are U familiar with it
Just be patient it only takes about a week or less for roots to show out the rockwool . Once they start to show , it"s safe to put in your hydro setup no problems .Newbie here wondering if starting a seedling directly in hydroton after it has germinated would be better than waiting for roots to hit the reservoir through root cubes or rockwool.
What is that your holding called? could you start a seed in that?I went to a method to grow out the roots a bit before transplanting into the netpot. I got sick of the amount of time it took from seedling for the roots to come through. This way I can feed the roots right down through the netpot and backfill the hydroton.
I made a "nursery" bucket to grow out the roots. I keep the nutes low (I'm using clones that have already started rooting), ca/mg, silica, rhizotonic for root stimulation and cannazyme.

I started using grow stones - hydroton is great, but they were a pain to step onI always had some type of problem starting in rockwool, it was too wet or too dry or transplant shock or mold problems. Went from seed to hydroton and never had a problem....ever. I keep the rez level right below the seed when i first start and it never dries out.
