Growing on a deck

So. I have a 20' long 4' wide deck that is walled solid at 3 feet up. How would you grow? Standard setup with short plants or does someone have a better idea.

One of my tractor buddies grows on a deck in Georgia. His lot gets no sun, so it's his only chance to garden. Veggies, but you could do the same. Some boxes, pots and bags.

I used to hang out in the Rural Living section of Tractorbynet. Found them while researching a hydraulic problem on my old Ford 3930. Good folks for the most part, but not very many dope growers. At least none who talked about it.
