The plant itself is big enough to shade it's roots but besides the holes I dug and filled with good soil the rest of the backyard is hard clay and holds heat like crazy. I will throw some mulch around it and see if it helps tho. About 105 degrees right now

Damn man, that is some hot weather. If the clay is not letting the water drain out of the hole, you might have standing water on the roots. Maybe drill down beside it through the clay with a post hole digger or something, and make yourself a drain.

Does it only affect the top of the plants and new growth, the top leaves were just tips once, so those big fans at the top would be included and considered the top new growth. Anything like that anywhere near the bottom of the plant?

big fans are fine just new growth. Altho growth has come to a stop on this one

I suggest you without causing any stress or damage, dig down a bit and grab some soil below the surface(not right at the top or just under, get in there a bit) and throw some soil into distilled or RO water give it a shake, then test the pH of that water. Boron is locked out at pH range below or above pH 6-6.5, and displays the exact symptoms you have. Watering through heavily with a complete balanced nutrient solution at correct 6-6.5pH max should clear this up.

I tried to dig into the side of the hole yesterday but it seems to have crazy roots going through the clay soil already. Anyways do I need to go but a ph pen?

Well, my thought is what if the soil is holding at a consistant pH lower than 6, or higher than 6.5, depending how it was mixed and it's ingredients, and then certain micro is locked out constantly and you get that twisting leaf shit, so why i suggested first thing, check pH... and also... if you to water as I said with a balanced nutrient solution at pH 6-6.4.... well right there stop.. how would you without a ph pen. soooooo........

I read, watering with RO water or distilled can also do this, because tap water, or balanced nutrient solution usually contains all the micros and boron you need, so, are you watering by any chance with RO or distilled allll the time?

Never had a problem like this before and I don't grow inside so Il get one
