Sativas that don't cause anxiety?

G'day

I'm new to this forum so if I'm posting in the wrong place, sorry, and can i have direction to the right subforum, cheers.

Personally I've never dabbled with Sativas due to the fear of it triggering and making my social anxiety/ general anxiety much worse.

Does anyone know any good strains (and preferably the seed-bank too) that produces a sativa or sativa dominant hybrid that isn't really indica heavy and wont trigger my anxiety.

Some strains I was looking at were

- Super Silver Haze (Greenhouse Seed Co.)
- Original Sour Diesel (Cali Connection) (Yes I know its not “Sour Diesel”)
- Durban Poison (Sensi Seeds)

Like I said I've never dabbled with sativas so my strain choices may be way off, which is why im here.

Cheers :)
Anxiety? Thats what I grow it for!

Acapulco Gold by Bodhi and Jarilla by CBG are two that are non paranoid. Strawberry Blue from WOS is a sativa dominate, no noids. Limit your smoking at first and find your comfortable limit. With the three I mentioned I can not really go '1 toke over the line' or at least I have not yet.

I used to fear sativas and stuck to certain indicas or hybrids. Got tired of feeling tired and uninspired and got a bunch of different sativa seeds and grew. Now I have a number that are are safe, at least if I do not overdo them.

I grew out a number of hybrids or indicas that caused anxiety or uncomfortable feelings, so it is not just sativas that cause this.

I assume you enjoy the 'rollercoaster' effect. There are people that love being scared, it makes them feel alive. hehe Whatever floats your boat. Excited or scared, can be very close to each other, and even being scared can be fun or enlightening.

I have a couple I grow to help someone with chronic anxiety. She was taking a lot a benzos and now she has them as a PRN only. No more scheduled doses. No more rebound anxiety.
Its such a blessing when someone finds that kind of relief...especially in a much safer option.

I have had bad experiences before with pot. I didn't smoke for a number of years because of it.

I've found that some sativas can cause it but it comes down to harvest time. Early cut commercial weed has caused it every time it happened to me. After I started growing for myself I haven't had it happen.

The cannabinoids that counter the negative effects develope late flower.

Don't cut early and let them ripen properly and that should help a lot.

I prefer hazes.
This!!

All depends on harvest time. Most people pick with clear and milky trichs and it has the racy high, its also when most sativas (especially African landraces) have the highest thcv levels which is a different kind of shorter lasting psychoactive stone. By leaving until there's plenty of amber trichs, the stone becomes more, well, stoney and less anxiety inducing.

I call thinking while stoned, mental weight lifting.
I love how fast I can progress through problem finding or planning when stoned on some nice Swazi. Takes a bit of practice, but you eventually learn to compartmentalise quite well with it.

Not a chemist here but I think thcv is not psychoactive. But yeah, wait till the ambers if you want a less racy high, not sure on the chemistry of it.

My company produces large amounts of THCV for wholesale in CA medical market and I can definitely say it's psychoactive in larger doses. The one "double blind" study that is out there used only 12 patients, and administered a very small amount of THCV (10 mg I think). More practical, and interesting is the entourage effect involving THCV and the other cannabinoids and terpenes, that, in the strain I work with produces a very alert, short lasting high that really does have a less "anxious" quality. Some patients with PTSD seem to really respond to it, but this hasn't really been studied enough yet to know for sure. So far, as far as anxiety is concerned, the results have been very positive. I've tested with oil that was around 35% THCV and 55% THC (whole plant extract), and I've also been testing a 25% THCV / 40% THC blend, which has also gotten a positive reception.

And it's ALL sativa. Harvest is around December 1st in NorCal

I'd love to hear more about this strain, I'm trying to find one with high THCV for 2 patients that have chronic seizures. One has up to 20 per day and the other 8-10 times a week!

I have severe anxiety and chocolope is definitely one of my favorite sativas for dealing with it. To me at least it's the kind of sativa that you smoke and it just puts a smile on your face for hours on end, no racey thoughts, no jitteriness. It just makes me want to get out there and do things

Chocalope is, in my opinion, the best medicinal strain of them all and it tastes awesome too.
the tangie from crockett family farm is my favorite day time herb, it's a mix I think but for me it was uppy but not speedy or too thinky
Well I'm gonna go ahead and combine both of your suggetions. I have grown and smoked Tangilope (Chocolope x Tangie) and its such a great day time smoke and the tangerine/clementine/skunk terpene profile is off the charts.

Do you not have this backwards? Indicas have always given me periods through the high where I am super anxious and quiet, while sativas have always made me euphoric and chatty.

But with so many strains now that are crossbred it's hard to find those pure sativa strains.

I think it depends on the person too.
My partner and I burned a J of Tahoe OG x forum cut x Stardog... laughed and talked all the way home. Got home, cooked dinner for me and the wife, cut some buds, and rollin' another. FANTASTIC SMOOTH high...ZERO paranoia, jitters,or any negative effects. The aroma and flavor keep you rollin'em up

OP, I know where you are coming from. I was an extremely heavy smoker for over 14 years. Rarely went a day or if not more than 5-6 hours without smoking. Suddenly started getting extremely anxiety attacks nearly every time I smoke. Always a physical feeling like I'm having a legitimate heart attack. Happened so often when I smoked I just stopped all together. Spent another year after that still growing but eventually stopped doing that too. I'm now 35 and have not smoked in 4 years. Had no urge to smoke again, until recently. Now I really want to smoke, and am about to start up another grow. Will be growing CBD critical cure and Dinamed CBD. If I had to recommend, id go with something mid grade, or high CBD low THC. Perhaps if you smoke something with little THC and you have a couple of positive experiences without having an anxiety attack you can slowly build you way up to stronger strains.

I had a very similar experience Hank,
This was in the late nineties in Golden Gate Park. Found myself sitting on a blanket with some friends passing some joints and some hand pipes. Took a pool off of something that gave me a coughing fit that lasted for several minutes someone asked if I was okay I replied yes... And then without saying a word just walked away thinking I was going to collapse dead at any moment lol. It was a struggle to maintain. Over the next couple years I did as you did. Tried different strains tried different combinations and it got to the point where I did quit for a couple years... Luckily for me as strangely as it came on, it went away. For the most part, I still will get an occasional"mini freak out" but they are few and far between and now I know that I'm not going to die:-) I would recommend cbd-crew. We ran their skunk Haze for a while and was hard to tell what the ratio was but I can tell you that it was a sativa with no paranoia, recently we've been smoking a lot of Agent Orange which is an excellent daytime medication with no paranoia and the 14er cookies from Boulder a hybrid with extreme potency and an up Buzz absolutely no paranoid whatsoever... My grandma can't get enough of it.
It's been a game changer for my wife with her back injuries and for me just helping with those blue collar aches and pains! We've got Harle-Tsu on Deck, and Dinafes purple Orange! Never even heard of that one until a buddy of mine gave it to me. Relief is on the way people!!!!
