Why do you think it's so hard for some people to acknowledge the government does not have the welfare of its citizens as the main priority? Background? The era they grew up? A lifetime of mainstream propaganda?
 
you guys wanna know how the GOP gets their members to vote in lockstep with whatever is proposed? millions and millions of dollars in dark, unaccountable money to throw at any senator or rep who does not goose-step along.

maybe we can do the same thing on the left and get single payer!

The problem with that theory is that the special interests that provide said funds to Democrats do not want to enact single payer, they oppose it because single payer is less profitable for their industry. So, these Democrats have to pretend they support it. If any Democrat actually supported single payer, the pharmaceutical industry wouldn't finance their campaigns, the insurance industry wouldn't finance their campaign.

The only way to get a Democratic politician to actually support a single payer initiative is to ensure they don't accept funds from special interests and their campaign is publicly funded by citizens

Does Bernie Sanders get money from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc.? Warren? Any politicians who receive funds from any of these industries?

List the amount each of the 'yes' votes received from the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical industry

We know how much Rendon received, and he voted to end the process completely. So do you have any 'yes' votes that received any significant amounts from either of those industries?

A Democrat with a supermajority in the assembly just shelved the chance of enacting single payer in the 6th largest economy in the world after having accepted thousands in campaign contributions from organizations that oppose enacting single payer in California..

You still haven't answered why Rendon chose to shelve it instead of debate it

probably for the same reason it has been shelved in hawaii, new york, illinois, vermont, and elsewhere. it's just about impossible to pay for.

In this case I'm pretty sure they just don't understand the con.

But to answer your question more directly, the ones I've spoken with are just hyperpartisan, dyed in the wool Republicans and the details don't matter.

Their issue, be it gays or abortion or keeping the trannys out of the bathroom, is all they care about and the rest doesn't concern them.

If this seems a bit stupid... Well... We aren't generally talking about the sharpest knives in the drawer.

There are a very few who are highly intelligent and use the talking points as a shield to hide their sleight of hand. They're very polished and know exactly what they're doing. Follow their money trail and you'll see they definitely have something to gain by running the party line.

Your arguments against why establishment Democrats won't/shouldn't enact universal healthcare are uncanny from that of a Republican. These are literally, just about word for word, the same things they argue

Pinpointed Buck exactly. It's not ignorance or stupidity, it's nefariousness. Stupid people aren't a threat, at large anyway. Intelligent people with an agenda are the real threat.
