just eyeballing the plants mostly since i run different strains all the time and usually 3 strains per grow. but the plant and root development for similar veg times was way way way in favor of rdwc/dwc. so more yield from bigger , better plants.
I went from 27-30 zips per in RDWC to 21-27 zips each in 5 gallon buckets of Tupur. On average I lost about 20%. I think bigger buckets could have erased much if not all of that deficit.

Re; hempys lads

Ive seen another person post recently explaining their hempy using 2" hydroton and an airstone on the bottom of the bucket, with a 1" pipe down the side of the bucket to allow bottom and top feeding. They where using 100% perlite on top

I'm thinking in my 2gal fabric pot to place a 2.5" heigh plastic bucket in the bottom with a drain at 2" filled with hydroton + disk airstone and a 1" pipe down the side of the pot for direct watering of the roots once established, medium would be 50 50 coco perlite

How well would that style work?

i personally dont' think the airstone or the pipe down the side would make much of a difference. and i don't like coco either as a medium. that's just how i roll though. give it a shot and build one to try.

Hi fellow growers, hope Im not butting In, have a great easy way to that I've developed out of necessity.

Get a polypropylene shopping bag (the fabric shopping bags usually$1 at grocery store checkouts)

Put a nappy (diaper) In the bottom of the bag.

Now fill bag with 70%sand 30%soil dryleaves mixed up.

Transplant into this from solo cup.

Sit the bag in a tray. (I do around 100 bags, all sit in a big tray I made from panda film )
Water the tray and the nappies soak it all up.

This is foolproof, power outages No Problem, HYDRO results, simple.

The gel contained in the nappies is incredible.

Recycling dirty nappies adds nutrients.

I just had a guy tell me he has great luck with doing the same for his gorilla grows, puts the diaper in the bottom of the bag, I may try a couple next season :). As for leaving my setup, all that is needed is a 10 gallon pail with a pump in it, at day 6-7 I have my girl plug it in and it refills the res (30 gallons). I do like the ideal of an auto fire extinguisher though :). And yes timed DTW would be the best but it all relies on everything staying on or having someone check. The best thing about going away for a week or two is the massive growth you don't see looking every day lol.
