Week 8 flower, foxtailing GC

So I'm getting close to the end. Only the three main larger colas have foxtailed. On top as well as the whole bud. I think. Would this be genetics coming out or just the heat/lights being too close?
I have the lights as close as I can to the main buds just to keep them as close as possible to the lower canopy. Fan blows across the garden and 4in inline fan for exhaust. Tent is 2x2x4 and I have AC in that room. Temps are around 73-77 lights on and 70 lights off.
Also it's a CFL grow so I don't think it's that hot (lights are maybe 1inch from the main colas). 42watt bulbs
The larger ones HAVE been burned a couple times by the lights. But they seem to take it in stride hahaha. Just curious about the whole fox tail situation. Thanks!

Just genetics, some just do it. I have some genetics that I've run multiple times and they always foxtail. Heat can cause it too but since you're using CFL's and by the temps you stated I def don't think its heat related. BTW great job on those plants with CFL's!
You're probably using so many watts that you'd be better off just using an HPS though but whatever floats your boat.

Probably what is causing the problem, what is the heat at bud level and not the ambient room temp?
Hmmm I'll try and hang the thermometer tonight and check.

If it is it just makes me curious as to why none of the other normal size buds in the canopy fox tailed? That's what's got me scratching my noggin! And yeah probably (336 watt). But I would have had a tough time in a 2x2x4 tent with an hps. Cob led will be the next chapter...

Tents can be drafty and breathe a lot. You should have no problem with 400 watts in there but it needs good ventilation or it will get hot as you already know. Foxtailing is a genetic trait that comes on later sometime and HEAT yes it does cause foxtailing. I believe the top most buds show first but I cant fully remember.

I think you guys are spot on. They're all foxtailing. It's apparent now lol. Cheers!!
