22,000 BTU mini split enough?

Hello. I have a room that is 12x12x7 I run four 1000 watt air cooled magnum XXXLs. Unfortunately I do have my ballasts mounted on the wall in the room so there is a little heat from them too as they are digital. I have a Pioneer 22,000 BTU mini split that I got for a great price (free). Currently my temps have been around the low 80s. My question is first will the unit be enough to cool the room? Secondly I won't be running O2 so I'll still be bringing fresh air in to the room and discharging air. What rate should I adjust the air exchange to? Right now I'm replacing the air over 1 time in less than a minute. Where I'm at the only months that cause heat issues are end of May, June, July and August. Any input is greatly appreciated.

My house has air conditioning and is 70° so I just blow the semi cool basement air in the room and circulate it. But I'd like to keep the room in the low 70s with lights on at all times.

closed hoods require 3500 btu's fro each 1000 watts, your a/c is plenty big enough.

What type of air exchange is used with an air conditioned room? I know sealed with supplemented 02 is best but I don't have the resources for that at the moment. I run a 10" hyper fan an an exhaust fan that I believe is 1050 cfm but I can dial it down. I just dont want to sucj out all the cool air too fast.

No air exchange, or only when the A.C. isn't running. If it's a constantly vented room, you're just going to suck the cold air out.

And it's supplemental CO2, not O2.

Well if I shut the intake fans off and turn the exhaust fans off and just let the A.C. run with out any C02 wont the plants use up all the C02 in the room? I was gonna add some fresh air because I don't have a c02 generator at the moment.

Does anyone on here run an air conditioner in a non sealed room design? I'm mainly doing it to battle the heat in these hot months in the fall winter and spring it won't be needed.

Yes you should exchange the air even when running ac and not supplementing but you can do minimal air changes to keep CO2 levels from dropping. One air change every 15 min should be enough to keep levels in check so a slow constant exhaust with passive intake. Yes it will cost a bit more to cool but you need a fresh supply of air, again if not supplementing CO2. Your unit should be ok size wise but there are sizing apps that you can google to help size things. Run CO2 and no need to ventilate .

I agree I need to run c02. I plan on panda filming in attempts to air tight the room along with adding a co2 burner to add co2. But that's over the next few months.

I sealed my rooms years ago, ac/dehuey/c02 and use no outside air in our out....never looked back.
it aint air tight of course, I'm just an old coot

22 btu is good for you.
cool room, set thermo to exhaust before next cooling cycle.
c02 efficacy used at 70 f may be negligible. you'll see the most metabolism with higher temps when augmenting with c02. your plants like heat, as long as they have c02 to breathe, humidity is checked and air is flowing.
