600 HPS,1000 HPS or 315 CMH for a 4x4?

1 600 watt hps= 600 grams,, 2 315 watt cdls (630 watts)= 800 grams wroughly.. that extra 30 watts gets u 200 grams...
yes 1 600 watt hps will yield more than 1 315 watt cdl, but 1 315 watt cdl still gets you more grams per watt more gpw = efficiency ...
i do agree going from 1 600 to a single 315 is just plain stupid, regardless of gpw or efficiency.. your giving up 200 grams.. however putting 2 315's in place of the single 600 watt hps,, your only using 30 more watts, youll also save on heat issues as 2 315's putt out less heat than a single 600 watt hps and you are increasing your gpw by idk 20-25%.. id get 2 315's over a single 600 watt hps and 3 315's insted of 2 600 watt hps...
Yeah i see where you are coming from, 2 of the 315's is a good replacement for a single 600w hps, i guess i still should get a second. I still don't think 2 of them will give the same bud size as the buds directly under a 600w or 1000w hps, the intensity is so much higher directly under the hps compared to these. Yield might be more, though. Similar to growing under LED's, yield goes high but bud size isn't great compared to HPS or outdoors. Better spread on the footprint , but less intensity.

Ya, know I've heard some people say the 315 CMH can replace a 400w HID, the only problem is every grow I see witha CMH is doing less than a 400w.

They said the same thing about LED a decade ago.

Don't believe the hype.

in veg the 3100k 315 watt cdl grows plants shorter and more nodes per height than a 400 watt 6500k mh... also using mh in veg then hps in flower nearly tripples the stretch o0f plants vegged w a 3100k 315 then flowered under 3100 k 315 cdl's... a plant that veg's and flowered under the cdl will only double its height..
Have you or anyone used this bulb ?

a 315 cmh will produce at least 400 grams, way better than a 400 watt hps,, but i say buy more than 1 the more 315's u use the better the gpw gets,, i have 5,, only using 2 in flower and 1 in veg tho...

How is 400 grams way better than a 400 hps? I can get up to 600 grams from my 600 hps.

And good news about the Phillips bulb. They claim 2 years before grow degradation.

I actually got 2.5 years out of my phresh filter. Truth in advertising. Who would have known. :-)

600w hps gives best lumen per watt ratio of all hps lights, which makes it have the best gpw ratio of hps lights that are not double ended.

Yup...I run 3-930's & 3-942's in veg.

Did not see a super big difference,in veg growth..with clones

Seed plants seemed to be a Lil leggy under the 942..not bad.
with this light , I have more branching then I had under a normal mh light...

So what's the difference between the bulbs? and I believe the one I showed was made for veg?

Yup,lots more branching/ side growth...with both 315 bulbs,compared to a more red-light.
That's what I meant to say "leggy" branches on branching..

Those look great, that's run off a 1000w ballast in a DE hood?
Thanks,& yes..

They still fill like it's lacking something, the plant looks good...but like I said above..still to much side branching..in flower

I want to run them on a 630 DE ballast, to see if any difference.

It's the IR that is nowhere near HPS....thats why the buds do not seem "big"@Yodaweed

When I ran the bulbs without the glass on the hoods, the plants reactions where very noticeably different.

Youtube has a cmh bulb test, the phillips was on top but i forget if it was significant. You can get phillips for 75 bucks.
