Finally switching from hps to led...8x4 tent lighting help!!

Hello all,

This forum has been a fantastic resource for me so I finally decided to stop being a creeper and ask a question.

I am getting a new 8x4 tent and want to go with LEDs (i currently run 2 hps 600w in 8x4)

Question is would 2 - Mars 2 400w be suffice, or 2 - Mars 2 700w. I am looking for at least a comparable yield to my current 2- 600w hps lights

That being said does anyone have any other brand suggestions, unfortunately budget is an issue and value is necessary as cheap as possible but still quality.

One mars 700w (320w actual) will replace an HPS equivalent of 350W, Not sure why they call it a 700w replacement.

You will need 4 of those 700's to compete with 2 600w HPS bulbs and even then you will lack penetration.

Imo, spend your money on a nice DIY cob panel or just buy one.

Thanks! Wow 4 - 700s makes it so much more expensive than just going with another 2 hps 600s. I will start researching some cob panels.

Anyone ever used these, I was thinking two of these Advanced Platinum Series P450, or the Mars2 - 1200w
Thoughts?

mars suck donkey, for the best in led go diy cobs or quantum boards either seem to be cutting edge and proven to work.

Those quantum board are nice. But $1000 US for one. I'm leaning towards 2 more 600hps which I can get two kits for $500 CAD

I have a Mars 2 1200 and I compare that to a 600 I hope that answers your question

I went with cmh as i couldn't afford led at this point in time.
thats after getting a blurple led,good for veg.
Only pulls half of what its rated.

With the cmh still some heat about 4-5 degrees Celsius warmer then ambient.

Yes and those lights are crap imo not worth the money, if your gonna spend money to properly replace 1200 watts of hid then it can easily go over 1500$ buying pre-made cob kits.

Quantum boards are even better, if you dropped the 2k+ on two Q550's then you will have ALOT of light compared to the two 600's.

Im not sure what your trying to do? You wanted to replace the 600's (same yield) but now you want to add two more 600's? (More yield?) 2400w in a 4x8?
That's a bit on the higher end of the intensity scale and will require constant attention & healthy plants.
