if you got a strain or two that works for you....then hang on....you may need those beans, come what may.
Ya... pure unadulterated seed strains are somewhat rare these days... most people may start out with
something that could have been ....say kept rare or more pure... but when you run a (outdoors) garden of females
and find one or two seeds in each bud.
These seeds are developed by pollen(of unknown genetics) travelling either via bugs/birds etc or via the wind/rain, to your garden (disregarding Hermie's)
The resultant seeds,,, have a known mother and unknown father.
This same process in nature, is what would diversify a strain and allow those genetics to mingle with other strains to create bigger/heartier/ healthier
plants.
We get the exact same thing going on in our gardens as well.
Its natures way of combining genetics to get the strongest/healthiest plant available to that point in history.

Though indoors we can keep our strain (more pure) to its self. especially if you purposely grow males of a known strain and utilize this pollen
to create your own seed. Still your strains blood line could be a combo of unknown(prior ) genetics, with what ever known genetics, you choose.
Also clones stall out the process of change, which can be both good and bad.

So (outdoors) basically it can be ever changing, as the years repeat themselves, you get your known mother strain(a combo of your girls genetics with, the prior years unknowns) to breed this year's resultant combo.
Best thing you can do is find flavors of mmj that you like and that works for you ,grow that and keep what ever seeds you end up with and label that stuff
to be organized. It helps.

If you have strains growing that work for you then you sould make yourself some feminized seeds just in case

This is the worst case scenario since doing this increases the potential of hermaphroditism in the resulting seeds but if you're seeing a pinch down the road and need to store some seed 'just in case' then this may be the right option for you

I take a bunch of clones and root them in peat pucks using the goo from an Aloe Vera branch.

After they grow feet, I stick 'em in small dollar store cups for a week or so in my veg crate and then transplant to solo cups before throwing half of them immediately into my flower crate (I run my veg crate on a 20/4 timing)

After 2 weeks I remove the clones I put into flower and put them in a seeding box with a light set to run 12 on/ 5.5 off/ 1 on/ 5.5 off ... I also put the rest of the clones into my flower crate

After 2 or 3 weeks you will start to see pollen sacks forming on the plants in the seeding box, this is when you transfer the rest of the clones you originally took to the seeding box and let them grow

One thing that is invaluable is to set up the hermied plants on a board attached to a rope hung from the top of the box so as to be able to shake the plants of their pollen when they start to open ... you also will definitely want to seal the box off when the pollen sacks pop so you don't get spunked in the face AND comtaminate your other plants

I should mention that a hydro autowatering sytem utilizing a flood a drain setup is the most ideal for doing this type of thing as you can build the box to have access to the reservoir without having to open the part of the box that has the plants. And if you utilize a board hung on rope and use a pulley, you can completely seal the box and use the rope to not only shake the pollen when the plants start spunking, but you can set it up so you raise the hermied plants out of the flood plane where they will die as the polenated plants grow their seed ... two weeks or so after pulling the hermied plants out of the water it is safe to open the box and throw all the polenated clones back into your flower chamber

The plants will be small ... don't worry, you will get tons of seed as long as you let them plants grow till the plants are about to start dropping seed on the floor (seed needs to be ripe and this will vary depending on strain)

Out of these the Training Pineapples and the Pinapple Hash Plant are the quickest to show balls when I do a seed run (I think this is due to the Barny's Farm auto). The CB Dream is a new strain for me and I am just starting the pheno hunt so won't know it's tendancies until I finish the hunt and go to add the seeds to my seed bank

I've been collecting genetics for the past 4 or 5 years now and have around 20 different strains and crosses ... even have 8 strains that my buddy brought back from the blue mountains in Jamaica, only popped one so far and damn son, he did me a solid - I made some femmed seeds after the first taste of that herb, I call it Jamaican Grapes

Some people collect cars, some coins and others sports cards ... I collect cannabis strains

Anyways, I digress ... I hope this helps answer your questions and shows anyone reading how easy it is to plant a seed and watch it grow

I've gotten my hands on some chemical to reverse the sex. I don't really have the extra lights to set up a screwy light cycle area. I'm curious about the hermaphroditism tendency of the offspring. I've read differing accounts on both sides of the issue.
I think that's the worst thing that's come out of the proliferation of growing sites, there's conflicting information on virtually every subject. It's such a pain to try to sort through it all.

I always make sure my plants get no light in the dark period. Only from what I've heard can happen. I've had some hermies but I think it was stress more than anything. Nothing for a few years now though.
