I saw this on ebay as I am always looking to upgrade from my CFLs but I am in a tent so HPS heat is an issue I don't want to tackle just yet. I am venting through a filter and pumping in ac but still averaging 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Anyway this guy seems to be making them out of his house and the look beastly. I did order a true 300watt version for $130 and I think that comes in the 3000k spectrum. the larger 500watters have 2 different listings one for the 6000k and 3000k. I thought I would post this for anyone else looking to get a decent deal on LED. And no I am not the seller I have not even got my order yet as I pulled the trigger yesterday morning and still waiting on a tracking number. I will update when I get it if anybody wants to know more. I know the spectrum Kings are 3 times as much for comparably the same wattage but I don't know enough about LED lights to really pick apart why spectrum king is worth so much more.

So I could not post links so you maybe able to find it under title search in eBay...

Hey sorry I did come off a little pitchy. Just pretty excited about this find but maybe its not great so glad I only bought the smaller version. All I do know is in my home made CFL fixtures I have a hodgepodge of different bulbs and I did buy 2 - 30watt led flood bulbs for $25 each that seem pretty damn bright and the buds that they are over seem to be slightly larger than the buds under some chinese led pinkish grow light I bought advertised as 1200 watt but maybe only 200 watt at most not sure. this is my first grow and 4 weeks into flower and things are looking great but would like to upgrade without spending tight budget in one place So my purchase order is attatched and I just want to know if anybody on here that knows about LED lighting for growing thinks these lights will work decent. or if it should be used as just an outdoor light. Mods if you really think I'm spamming remove entire post.

LOL!

Try buying from somebody that doesn't type like and have the grammar of a 5 year old.
LOL! Taco the grammar Nazi. Trolling the internet to correct those that ignore their auto correct and hit post anyway. I wish I had that kind of time to help others the way that you do sir. Your self esteem should be good for another week at least.
Anyway the light did arrive and is extremely hot. I do not feel safe using it as is. Not good for a grow tent and I do not see how it could last for any length of time at that temp. So (almost forgot to capitalize the S at the beginning of this sentence) new project is to create a case with a couple of fans blowing on the cooling fins. It is extremely bright though.

Hahaha didn't mean to bring out the A-hole in anybody. Just wanted to follow up and let those who may have interest in LED lighting know the light I bought that turned out to run extremely hot is working perfectly with a 9 inch / $9 walmart boxfan tie strapped over the cooling fins.

Never buy any light that is cooled passively! Your tent will not be able to handle 500W or even 300W of pure electrically covered heat without large vent fans. These are made for street lamps applications, not grow tents. In the open mounted high up you don't notice the heat and the cool night helps keep that metal case cool.

You should be browsing the LED section in indoor growing for ideas on what to buy in terms of LEDs. I posted a DIY on how to build a 600w LED watercolors light for 250.

You want cool running lights my friend. Ask for a refund and do some research before you jump into things. For less than $250, you could have bought 5 Chinese 100W drivers and LED COBs, 5 nice fat USA heat sinks and 5 120mm PC fans and had a better setup than what you have now.

Hope things work out for you. If you manage to control the temps, your plants will love the light. Post some pictures of the guts and drivers if you can.

OP, what size tent are you in?

I went from CFL to a tent and HPS. Im able to manage the temp issues (except for maybe the middle of summer but I havent used them in that so far)
