You may want to confirm the umol/j of the chilled unit. 2.7 was at board level cold I believe. System levels are quite different. I'm sure it's up there though. Not knocking it at all just wanting as much accurate info as possible for the OP.

whoops, you are right that is not system level , my bad.
Probably closer to 2.4 including driver and optic losses, that is if you choose to have the optics which are not really optics more like covers.

gavitas can be found for $450 and bulbs don't need replacing every 6-12 months, mine still do great after a year and a half of 12/12

I also wonder if ANY of those lights are UL listed, Gavita is, Means it is safe for home use

UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories, an organization that has been around for more than 100 years. If you visit the UL Web site at www.ul.com, you can find the following description: "UL is a world leader in product safety testing and certification.

Why don't you find out for me which ones are and are not UL listed so we can know ? If you feel there is a safety issue with some of the lights please tell us what the issues are .

You are looking at around a 5% loss in light in a year from the bulb and reflector (which is very good). The loss of harvest weight would likely outweigh the cost of a new bulb and reflector.

Why don't you try contribute something useful :D.

I am the ONLY one that contributed something useful, THE TRUTH, not the inflated BS you guys have done for years. AND i did look, and NOT ONE of those LED lights is UL listed.
I'm still getting the same yields with the same bulbs as when I first got them. you are full of shit, because you NEVER used DE.

let's see, A stoner can build his own lights or have some stoner in his garage build them for him and pay a fortune..
or he can buy a UL safety approved light with a proven track record, so much so that the biggest corp in the world bought them. I know Which stoner I would want to live next to.

When you build a DIY light all the components you use are already UL or CE listed (for EU)... the only thing that is not UL/CE listed is the connections you make between these components... +/-... +/-... +/-...
A UL or CE certification cost few hundred $ in Asia or India.. you can build your light in EU or US and send it to Asia to obtain your certification.

What do you mean by inflated BS, Do you mean the scientific evidence that LED is better than HID in every aspect except cost? Which is only improving?

NOT ONE of those LED lights is UL listed
I will take your word for this, But you are aware that this in an emerging market in early development and these are growing companies that will soon be able afford the high cost and difficulty of UL certs. Like I said these products are safe if you don't think so please elaborate. The drivers are all UL listed and it seems to me you are bringing this up not because of safety concerns but more because you have some kind of extreme hatred for LED like it fucked your mom or something.

I'm still getting the same yields with the same bulbs as when I first got them
You have been growing the same strain, same amount of plants with the same reflector and bulb for 1 and half years and get the same weight? I call BS .

Yeah, Some stoner puts the parts together and it's suddenly UL listed? Yeah, right. WHY do you think ALL those other companies don't have it, if it is so easy to get?

just doing some math, OP would need 8 of those Ul listed units to cover his sq footage, that is $12,200.00

8 gavitas =$3600

difference up front $8600

8 bulbs once every year for the fanboys, let's say $800

10 yrs of bulb replacements to equal the upfront costs of the LED's

Some savings in power to be included in there.

For the record our lights are built in an ISO certified facility. We are starting the ETL cert process as we speak. Gavita MSRP is 699.00 just for the record. Most of these companies offer discounts as well.

always got to tell BS. That is the MSRP, not the price you can buy it for. you won't get that price difference on a LED unit. See OP, they ALWAYS have to LIE to SELL their shit. I have ONLY told the truth, no inflated BS.
