Seeds

Too bad it's illegal in your state.

When will this unjustified prejudice against marijuana end? I swear, stoners are the problem. If everyone who drinks wine ran around imitating a hallucinating drunkard wandering the streets, we'd have the same prejudice against wine.

Anyway, you have far more than enough seeds. Learn to clone! It's very easy. Forget STS until someone makes a better formula for single plant growers. Get some silver wire on ebay, a 9V battery and holder, some clean water, and make yourself some colloidal silver. Note: it's really only good for 2 weeks, even in the fridge.

I got 1200 seeds from the second plant I processed that with method. The fewest seeds I've gotten is 00, when I didn't want to lose the buds and only pollinated 2 branches.

Average seeds on a dwarf autoflower that's casually self-pollinated is likely around 400.

Alternate method: Leave one nice budding branch alone when you harvest the rest. Let it just sit there, even for months longer. Keep the led on it.

Eventually it's likely to make some pollen, and if you fluff that on the branch, you might get 5 or 10 seeds. And you can't really lose that bud if you don't get seeds, the pot will just lean towards being sedative.

Thank you for the help. I'm going to try n clone a few stems n see how that goes. I'd love to do a so.

Daniel Lawson, that is some awesome information! Nice to know that an indoor grow can go that well. And with the added benefit of no caterpillar poop. Just came back and saw your results and methods for creating seeds. I'm going to try that and maybe never run out of seeds. I sent a conversation but I don't think its private and don't see any way to delete it.

Order Paid – Packaging Shipment the seed is about to enter the envelope. This could be the day. Time to do my homework and make sure there is light and soil.

Do you use that to water the plants?
No, you spray it on a branch. There's a ton of info on this procedure, but I'll summarize it. You use pure silver wires and a 9V battery to get the silver to dissolve into pure water. Makes a yucky yellow/grey color when you have enough.

That's sprayed onto a branch or two, perhaps twice a day for 2 weeks. I'm not sure when you can quit, read up on it.

That makes the branch go male. If you get it at the right moment, the pollen will be ready just as the buds are big enough to be worth pollinating.

Even if you only use a very tiny amount of the pollen (such as by blowing on it towards the buds), you'll get at least 50 seeds.

If you want 1200 seeds, grow 2 plants. Spray one quite early on (even a little before it forms pistals), and use that plant to pollinate the other one.

Don't use the pot that got sprayed.

There's a bunch of worry about S1, and F1H, and S2, and so on. About genetics changing.

Don't worry about it. I've crossed several pure strain autoflowers from a good vendor, and the resulting seeds are remarkably the same by the time they finish making buds. I once grew 6 out to test a cross between White Widow and Super Skunk. When they came up, there were striking differences in sizes. But when they finished, they were all the same.

Worry about genetics is for breeders I suspect. If you get "good" seeds, crosses seem to be fairly predictable.

Yea, my idea is that they have to let people mail "hemp" seeds, because they're in lots of things (birdseed for example). In California it's ok to give seeds away (can't sell them yet). But when you mail it, the feds might have a say. So I'll try to figure out when it's ok to send seeds. If the rules don't seem to rule out other seed strains, I'll send em.

Interestingly, autoflowers are from ruderalis strain (which maybe isn't really a separate strain), and it's all over the world now, as "roadside marijuana", or something like that. I believe Virginia even has it. It grows quickly (as little as 2 months to get full seeds), and doesn't care as much about the seasonal lighting.

I spend some time in asia. You'd be surprised what happens around temples there. Asian culture is very good at hiding odd things from foreigners. You have to become very good friends with a guide before they start pointing out the stuff they know would ruffle your puritanical american values.

Growing drugs to support temples is not uncommon, especially opium and marijuana.

I'll leave out the other crazy stuff, like the temple girls in Japan, and bikini pole dancing at funerals in Taiwan and China.

Thanks for the refresher training; when everything sounds new to you you know you're over the hill. I have most of my gear in HI where the state has approved medical marijuana. Waiting for the whole country to conform will take longer than I have left in the world. Some of the doing is just for sheer academic pleasure. I've got to see the colloidal silver work its magic at least once. Saw hemp as an ingredient in the shichimi which is a good sign. Ruderalis if I remember is for medical. Have made dry ice hash and would also like try to make some oil as I can see needing it down the road. Those temples and the poor monks have a "higher" vision. They find a way to sustain their monastic lifestyle.

Here's what growing with the 36W Levin led lights looks like (see pic). I guess my digital camera is kind of stupid when it comes to judging colored light.

Some points about growing with E26/E27 bulbs, not so much for you guys, but because in general, single plant growing encouragement is sparse on the net.

E26 and E27 bulbs (that's the thread type everyone here is familiar with) both fit in american sockets. All of the LED bulbs I bought will accept european or american voltages. Possibly that's why they take a couple of seconds to come on, they're judging the input voltage.

Most info about growing you'll find on the net is oriented towards growing a bunch of plants to maximize yield (drug dealers). So far, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hobby growing info, for people who just like that plant and aren't intending to sell anything. And so formulas for things like STS are way out of wack for a single plant grower. Even colloidal silver making is described in excessive quantities sure to end up wasting most of it.

LED grow lights are relatively new, so info on which ones work well hasn't been established yet. The 36W Levin is the best I've found which will grow a single dwarf plant to maturity. And only $12 on amazon. I suspect that'll fall to $8 soon.

36W Levins use nearly no electricity compared to other stuff. If you're growing your 6 in California, you'll hardly even notice the bump on the electric bill. 6*19W = 114W. It's like keeping an old bug light on all the time, on the front and back porch. Certainly no one's going to get suspicious of that electric bill, if you live in a state that worries about such things.

Get the Levin 36W, get the cheapest clip on holder you can get, remove the metal hood if you can (interferes with the heat dissipation fins), and just clip the light to a table. When the plant is a baby, you'll probably have to prop it up with a box, to get it closer to the light. The LEVIN reaches 60K lux at about 8 inches from the plant. For a baby, keep it under 30K lux. Note: The lux is not accurate since there's no green leds, and the lux meters are designed for sunlight. But it's not so wildly off you can't use a lux meter to figure out how bright it can be.

When it's bigger, you'll have to remove the box and lower it. If you burn a grown plant, only a few leaves will turn yellow and you'll figure it out pretty soon. I keep them as close as 8 inches when it's a mature plant. The rules you read on the net saying 18 inches are for drug dealer grow lights, not tiny Levins.

Get some mosquito dunks. If you have 6 plants, you're going to need it! Gnats are the main threat to growing under the kitchen table.

Yea, it is. But you have to leave your american political correctness at the door, or you won't figure out what's up.

I'm just an observer (old enough to know better), but I like to go to the worst places to do the observing. It's sort of like growing marijuana. It's a little bit bad, which is what makes it fun.
