This is the biggest misconception in the cannabis community. Cannabis is a high demand crop, but so is corn, tomatoes, peppers, and squash. We're not special! Lol. If someone is telling you that the shit that grows grandma's award winning tomatoes won't grow exceptional cannabis, they are wrong. And if they're selling something they're trying to take advantage of you.So it definitely is a different aspect of growing a plant and with certain nutrients that we need more than others would with a different plant.
Cannabis is a heavy feeding annual. It prefers bacterial dominant soil. Just like tomatoes it uses up more N while vegetating and uses more K and P while fruiting (flowering). But it does require a balanced fertilization program throughout to reach it's maximum potential.
Go to your local library, check out every gardening, soil, and compost book. Pay extra attention to the parts about annuals and container gardening.
