Make sure you're looking at most of the buds, you need to reduce the amount of clear trichomes. As you describe "Many clear with some ambers. No cloudy to speak of" the plant is not ripe!
I get jumpy about harvest time but have learned to wait and achieved growing some very pleasant smoke; flavor, smell and effects as the breeder intended.

I create enough my own feminized seeds from letting my auto go longer and pollinate itselfAs far as I've read there are a few reasons why this might happen. First of all, males can polinate females over miles. But probably not the case.
Also stress can induce the female plant to produce seeds. But this i believe is connected to the plant having both sex organs aka being female and male at the same time.
And also yes, ripness - if you wait too long seeds might appear. But probably also related to dual sex.
