Complete darkness outdoors?

There is never "complete" darkness outdoors.....Full moons DO effect the plant, as does odd light pollution from around the yard...

I had a plant about 50' from a 250w CFL yard light.....The side away from the light set flowering 1-1/2 to 2 weeks before the side facing the light......I let it run out that way and it finished fine on both sides - just slower on the light side....go figure
The light side stretched longer....
Oh yeah, no herming or "nanners" either!

I am growing late and have several different starts...we are in a greenhouse and plan to grow year round in there.
Mid July the sun shine starts to drop each day,the plants are doing great.Frost?just need a space heater for that.

Why? simply keep them in pots and move them in and out of cover......Barn, garage or shed~ No frost on plant!

I did a plant outside once, planted in November, when all my other plants were done, and hung Christmas tree lights on it, spiraled around, two strings of it, and the white lights kept it from flowering, and that plant/tree was gi-friggin-normous
the trunk was probably about 8 inches thick.

My plants,well 12 of them can not be moved around with out breaking the branching off that are heavy in flower right now.
The rest of the girls will be ok where they are in their pots,even if I wanted to move them there is no reason to do so,when a frost comes the heater is on.

But, maybe if you do it right, you may just have a chance. Your season and environmental factors depend on it as well.

These jumped out of their 1 gallon pots from beneath a 1000W HPS on a 20/4 light cycle last night, to their new 10, 15 and 20 gallon grow bags last night.

I have to say a thanks and shout out to a very good buddy of mine (Getaway Mountain) for supplying me with the awesome genetics Island Afghani and Poison Warp.

Will let ya'll know how it goes!

Forgot to add, if this works out then this will be my only method of planting from this point forward, putting the girls out late.

If you are a guerilla grower as am I, in a state that has a very low tolerance for the ganja and has very intense air traffic due to LEO spending millions every year on eradication efforts "the war on drugs", then this method would also be a good try for you as well.

This will reduce your chances of a lost crop to air eradication, thieves, hunters, nark's, LEO, storms (environmental factors) and pests by up to 50%. It would have to...

You should be ok, my photo's have not started to flower yet and just have preflowers as of a week ago. Yes keep us posted and good luck. Just an FYI but the law doesn't start to fly here until mid September and that's when the slime ball kids come out as well. Lol.

Yeah I have some big bushes out as well and a few patches that were put in the ground in April and May, those are showing pre-flowers as well, have a few in full swing flower, but most are just showing sex.

Eradication in south eastern Ky here in the Appalachia starts July 1st. The first 3 weeks of July I seen them circling my neck of the woods every single day for those 3 weeks solid and they were flying they're usual black hawk's, ksp choppers, private contracted helicopters and even added in a couple chinook's to the mix this year. Its ridiculous the man power they have behind this whole thing and the dollars they spend doing it. It has slowed down as of now, they will fly a little this month and a little bit next month and that will be it. I believe this state is just low on funds this year tbh. Because they are not flying nearly as heavily as usual.

We have ksp, local leo, national guard, us marshall, dea, us forestry and HIDTA all involved in eradication here. It truly is ridiculous.

Another benefit is color expression - if you like that.

The best colors show up when night temps are in the low 50s.
Make sure your plants are healthy to help prevent powdery mildew. I don't like to "fade" my plants outside before harvesting. It makes them more vulnerable.

aug 19 - just veggin ... in the ground since jul 20
aug 20 - BAM flowers on outdoor plant

and there is a 400W MH on a pole ~40 yards/meters away that comes on at dusk

sunset: 8:13PM

I built a custom dark room using tarps & started flowering a couple weeks early. Last year I lost quite a bit of bud to mold & had to bring them inside to finish. It was a mess.

When my BST's had bud worms and mold last year, I had to cut a lot of it early. I wanted to know if the seeds were worth saving, so I did a Fall/Winter Seed Test. I killed most of the sprouts, but the ones I didn't got about waist high and made around an oz each. I also did a Spring crop. Got about the same size and weight from them.

The f/wst were all outside from the start. So they started to flower as soon as they reached sexual maturity. The spring crop did have some vegging under lights, but they were just reaching sexual maturity when I put them out in January, so the yields were about the same.

The county LEOS found a couple of my patches with their helo. Not huge plants in either patch. Only two females and one male in the one patch I have been back to. All chopped off at the ground. Have not been to the other patch, {of 3, 3 & 5 plants} but I assume the same for them. The irony is I started late so my plants would be small so this wouldn't happen.

That is basically a reaction to a nutrient block from roots getting cold.. Can also be influenced by added K. Put the two together and they really color up fast.....

Still, as far as the cold roots thing. If you have them in pots. Moving them to keep them in the sun - during sun hrs - gets those roots back up to warm and happy quicker and you get better results in the end. All the while getting that coloring form the night temps...
