what do you mean by "these"? holders? heatsinks? the connectors?

i think its the connectors. just use wagos they are rated for 30A at high voltage

Lime or baking soda are about all that will correct this issue. And no, gypsum won't work either as it won't buffer the soil.

So last night, added 7g maxibloom into a gallon of water, and also added a little baking soda to increase PH. Today, she looked much happier.

When you say lime, do you mean dolomite lime or actual lime?

What about adding silica? I hear it's good for protection, and raises PH a tad?

Any new COBs worth mentioning that have come out recently? Loving my current setup.
 
I meant dolomite lime. I don't use silica so I can't answer that one. In coco it would probably be a good addition. In soil, there is already loads of silica.

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Why are four clu048-1818 80cri COBs with a hlg-320h-48A driver, ran in parallel, have a voltage of 36 volts? Checked at the main connection wire. With a total range of voltage adjustment being between 34v and 38?

Checked with two different multimeters. The lights are working perfect by the way. For the last 4 months. So is the matrix messing with me or what? What's going on here?

That sounds like what you want. Series would give you a much higher voltage reading, parallel the voltage should be 36. What you have now seems appropriate for your driver.
 
Do you have any cheaper option for shipping COBs? 2-4 COBs to EU cost me 100 dollars, and shipping is 50 dollars.
 
Except that the CLU048-1818 is a 50 volt chip, not 36V.

to europe for chips only - most countries are $32 with package insured up to $200
$12 for no insurance and you roll the dice if it gets lost
 
I'm keeping my light 6" away from the plant, and have the light turned down a tad, is this any different than holding it 12in away and turning it up a tad? Temps are fine.

Figured this would save energy maybe?

It will save you energy and make the COBs more efficient.

It seems that the latest information suggest that COBs ran at around 40%. Is a sweet spot on the efficiency scale.

Now beware of the older way of checking the heat. COBs run fairly cool. While the heat temperature is ok. The amount of light might be too much. 6" is really close regardless of how cool or hot it is at the cola.
 
there really is no "sweet spot:" on efficiency

maybe you mean sweet spot on capital cost vs resulting efficiency (spending twice as much on chips to gain ~10% efficiency)

for some sweet spot is 75W a cob because its cheap and better than HPS
for some sweet spot is 25-35W a cob because their gardens can get the benefit and yield more hq product per cycle and they get that money back quickly

Question. Any idea what wattage the previous 1212s were putting out? I'm trying to figure out the compared wattage with the new chips.

I'm kinda impressed. Overdriven by 10volts for over 4 months. The temperature of the sinks, chips and the driver have fallen by 20°f. Now it has a full range of voltage. Going from 42v up to about 51v.

At 50%, the new chips don't carry the brightness as the 1212s. At 100%, they're brighter then the 1212s.

I need to add two more chips to the array. According to the driver specs, 6-7 chips are the best performance and the highest wattage yield on the curve. With wattage dropping off after an 8th chip is added.

Am I on track with the number of chips?

just getting in, saw your email

if you noticed when you ordered the heatsink/color/holder combo you specified werent stock, those are "backorder" (aka custom builds), theres one more in front of you but im doing bench work today and tomorrow so hope to get them out soon, those passives go pretty quick
