Top dressing dry amendments on coco?

Hey everyone, looking for some insight on the subject of applying organic amendments over coco. Is this is viable way to achieve organic meds? I was always under the impression to use mineral base fertilizer when using coco but I wanted to see if I could top dress and use teas with coco.

I think amended, mineralized compost mixed with a blend of supportive aerations is probably the best way, for supporting micro life which is the real work horse in organics...

..at the same time though, most micro life lives in the top few inches, although inoculated earth can stretch for 100's of times that.. so if you incorporated some biochar into the topsoil, then say a paramagnetic rock mixture of basalt / gypsum / glacial RD, and some meals, namely neem and kelp, maybe organic manure/alfalfa too.. with some fresh castings.. and supplemented as you said, you might do well and like the style/ control too.. especially if you don't mind the extra work and plant-reading

You can use coco as one of the components to your soil, but you'll also want aeration and organic matter in the form of composts, and organic amendments such as neem seed meal, kelp, biochar, etc. As the good brother don mentioned above. Coco is not acidic so wouldn't use garden lime or Oyster shell flour. Gypsum and Langbeinite would serve you better.

Oh yes you definitely helped me out. I decided that using coco and organics wasn't for me if I wanted the full experience of it. I am always glad when I post and I get great responses. Most my posts are ideas and ways to try and make my growing experience better, thanks.

i did a complete coco run using a nutriment tea not AACT beautiful plants lotsa Work brewing the tea
Never again just too much work brewing a daily tea , they were monsters but had issues easy to fuck up daily heavy feedings , one got lock out but solved it quick flush

Coco can work well with organics, better than a peat based organic soil.

I use coco in my Coot's mix replacing the peat

i've ran Coots 3 times since less work now just water & an occasional SST of corn
i do top dress kelp ,frass ,oyster ,neem , comfrey

I'm on my first grow with Coco and I must say I'm a fan. I've done peat base soil with good results but Coco and rice hulls are my favorite.....of course with amendments,castings,compost etc. I can also say grower talent is the most important factor. Media is just a preference that will vary from grower to grower. Also I use sip containers so top dressing is a necessity!

Just replace the peat product with the coco and have at it. My whole outdoor veg garden is made up of 10 years worth of root balls from my coco grows.

If you want the full experience, just make a really good soil.. and or compost, bud. Cant beat the ease, expression and smoothness when you rock a well rounded water only recipe. I rock the CC mix with a couple upgrades/improvements and the results are stunning. And you don't have to do any work, just add water til you harvest.

Yup ,i tweak the CC as well more broad ca ,broader seafood ,coconut flours , malted grain ,whole sprouting corn 4 different rock powders\clays,going to add rice hullz next run of soil.Coot's is a great system of living soil
