Sanders and his supporters achieved this. What happened to "He wouldn't be able to get anything done!"?

This shows some things; 1. there is wide support for medicare for all, 2. establishment Democrats are very much aware of the optics of not co-sponsoring medicare for all, 3. progressives are winning in the realm of ideas, 4. Sanders is likely gearing up for a 2020 run as the frontrunner

Reguardless of 2020, it is now an everdyday topic, not one only shared by a few folks at political fringe...

A spark to an ember to a tiny flame to a fire....

Gay marriage, think it once in history thats not out of sight was really an issue just for the lgbt community... hell "dont ask dont tell" was a step forward! Then a few said gay marriage and most liberals didnt see it as their fight seemingly sympathetic but not empassioned for the cause, and eventually the liberal standard was civil unions (i still dont see any difference besides semanics) and then bit by bit, at an accelerating pace, we as a group blossomed, understanding the fight for gay rights, including marriage, was every liberals fight.

We are seeing this same progression now on healthcare...God its fun being a progressive and growing together, i fully beleive we can see single payer in most of our lives...

Ever notice, liberals stance progressively changing comes from the bottom up? That it starts with the people? We give our politicians the agenda and talking points.

But as conservative stances change over time (sometimes overnight lately) that they come from the top down? The leaders tell the masses what to think? The politicians tell the supports what the agenda and cause and talking points are...

The Republicans want to repeal healthcare or weaken it and Sanders wants to make it very clear to the American People that there is another alternative.

I think that achieves the objective of getting it on the radar and highlighting a key difference between conservative and Progressive thinking- and who is on which side.

Yes it will take a majority to get it passed- but now people have a bona fide issue to vote on.

I think it's brilliant.

Trump will pass.

Making a big splash about healthcare right smack in the new administration's honeymoon period does a lot of good things, including fucking with their agenda and initiative.

So it's an excellent Trump fighting strategy.

But armchair idiots are oblivious.

The Democrats do it at a time that is strategically important, when there's a chance it will pass.

Even posting about this attempt is completely pointless, more wasted paper.

Would you be this excited if he introduced a bill to give everyone a billion dollars?

The only thing that stood a chance of passing when the Democrats did it was gas from Chuck Schumer's Mexican lunch.

Bernie's strategy is to shine a light on every senator who doesn't get in board with single payer, which will be a wedge issue for upcoming midterm elections. Many progressive candidates will primary senators who don't come out in support of the bill, which will narratively impact their chances for reelection.

But you wouldn't know strategy if it stuck a finger up your ass, Stinkydigit.
