Hortilux has also been messing around with LEDs but have found nothing of substance thus far to have them bring anything to market (yet). I'm not here to argue one light technology vs another. I am simply sharing "my" experience with the things I do and gear I use. It's up to every individual to make up their own mind. My biggest issue on here when I first joined is it's hard to find un biased feedback from people. So that's my goal with my logs. I don't sugar coat things and I show the good and the bad especially when the errors were on me. This is how we learn not by showing only the good in a grow and starting a log half way through flower and saying hey look what I did. The ceramic hps may mean shit to you and that's fine I'm not trying to convince you to get one I am simply speaking of it with others who seem to share the same interest as me. For me it's easy having three 600 watt hortilux ballast here to just swap a bulb and try something new. For whatever reason I have not found the same results as others with a lot of things could be me could be my environment could be a combination of it all. One thing for sure though if I do my organics and use hid lights there is no wondering if the run will turn out ok, if it doesn't it's because I messed up somewhere.
I always appreciate your input man but I honestly don't know why we have to continually rehash what I am doing and why. So let me say it again right now it was an up from cost thing for me. When I have the funds I will be looking to add more of these cobs to my garden I really like them and how they perform. I did not like what the QB's we're doing to my plants especially the SBA which is a strain I am familiar with. Not saying you can't grow buds with them just not the right fit "for me" is all. And there's nothing wrong with that. I am in the process of chopping down a few girls tonight that are not up to par for me, two of them was my fault they dried out too much and got too far gone so I rather take good cuts from the tops and feed the worms in the pots than waste two months hoping for a sub par yield. I thankfully have the ability with my time etc to do things like this so If I don't like something out it goes. Simple as that. Two of my autos finishing up on flower got the chop tonight as well again the fuck up was on me. It is what it is. No sense in flowering out larf and ending up with an ounce off of a plant to throw into the trim pile.
My experience so far shows me led produces smaller buds than hid but more of them. Not better or worse jus different. Being that my background is in growing outdoors with fruits and veggies I know what a healthy outdoor plant looks like and I'm very picky with my garden the more comfortable I become as a grower. Most guys with LEDs and have never grown anything before let alone outside so they have no frame of reference. So to them they're just happy if they make it to harvest. I have higher expectations of myself and my plants. Doesn't make me better than anyone or anything like that just the way that "I am". We are all different and have different circumstances.
This is no different than cars. Yeah I can have a turbo 4 cylinder and save on gas etc etc and make decent power but a small block Chevy produces power for pennies on the dollar and if you add forced induction to one there's no way a damn four banger will keep up it's just the way it is. When you ride in a vette that smokes street bikes left and right it opens your eyes to what's possible. At the end of the day here we are all beta testers right now because we are the ones putting the work in to see what works and what doesn't.
Rant over........
