the video of the 3 well documented grows and an earlier one thats close isnt enough?

greengenes also documented a ton of grows a few years back and had a spreadsheet with all of them tabulated

my experiences jive with theirs. its not rocket science, just applying PAR to a garden with electric lights like people have been doing since the 70s. light are more efficient now. its just a fact

Growmau5 wont be getting any 1.5 gpw with that ChilLed Tech garbage. Never seen a pcb with 4 groups of lights: 2w, B, R, 1w on one end and 2w, R, B, 1w, on the other end. But if one were to have a change in sequence from one end to the other AND no connectors it would seem to only make sense to send a wiring diagram to your diy customers. Bonus: you can take it with you to go swimming....if you have no game you can divert the crowds attention by throwing your LED light into a tank of water.

DIY. Samsung 44" hard strips, F series double row. 9 of them. Get three 45" long pieces of 4.850" profile heatsink from HeatsinkUSA and put three strips on each one. Run each set of strips at about 200-250W each. Strips are $48 each, heatsinks about $50 each. 200W Meanwells (HLG-185-C1400) are 40 bucks each. Or you can save a bit and use cheaper no-name 48V power supplies from Ebay for about $20 bucks each.

Man, all this LED spec talk is way over my head.
Would it be a super pain in the ass for you to list every piece I need along with a direct link to where I can purchase?

Also, what is the wattage of this set up you're telling me?

Hehe! I know how the OP feels. Oldskool, like me :peace:

But I have been doing a bit of reading and I think I'm getting the hang of this . . .

So three strips and 200-250w per heatsink, each with their own driver. Can I ask, is there any reason you wouldn't recommend,say, six QB288/304s, two per heatsink, with their own drivers at up to 280w (or whatever) to do the same job?

I know the kits are $350 each, but aren't the components similar (maybe a bit more) in price?

To the OP, this is what I've been looking at, because it kinda makes sense to me and you can buy kits to assemble yourself or components and start from scratch:

If I'm correct, you could run the triples higher than 320w with a different driver. I think you'd want at least 750-800w in there. Just a guess. I'm looking at a 4x2 and I'd like to yield over 1lb to rival my old HPS set-up, so I figured around 400+w would do it for half your space.

They make a 4-board with 515+w for $1k and claim it replaces a 1000w HID, but I can't see it myself. It looks like most are suggesting at least 700w for a 4x4.

Yeah, yeah, I know watts aren't PAR, but it seems to me like most of the top-end leds have similar PPF efficiency so are at least in some ways comparable.

This will replace 1000W

725W at the wall

~$550
you just need to build a frame for them out of aluminum
if you can drill a hole you can make a frame

I can understand the startup cost and lost opportunity cost arguments of LED vs HPS, but at this point if you're still wondering if LED can outyield HPS, you have your head stuck in the sand.

For people like mongo, the real problem is not wanting other people to have something that's better in any way to make him/her feel inadequate, which is kind of shallow imo. We're talking about inanimate items after all.

lights have different needs..ie. to grow plants..soundi s not the same ......



yes to my ears lp 55 db LP sounds way more vital, alive and meaty compared to 105 db digi..which sounds not nearly satisfying...

same with 15 ips 2" tape compared to any digi ad/da...just something more enticing as i have run the gamut ofanalog /digital..

....digital editing rocks however......

It's still easier to get bulbs then records, for the moment at least.
