I have a really ghetto bucket system that I grew some mothers to make clones from. The plants are in large like 12" net pots, and I'm wondering if it would be possible to somehow transplant the mothers into my new system(water farm 8 pack). The roots have grown pretty nicely through the bottoms of the netpots, but if it's possible somehow I would really love to move them into the waterfarm so I can flower them as I got more clones than I needed and would like to grow those into new mothers. I know it's a strange question, but the bucket system is super ghetto and requires another closet which I don't have a light for cept some cfl's now that I have my waterfarm up. Thanks!

i dont think it would be too safe removing a rooted plant from a netpot without damaging the roots. maybe you can just plop the whole netpot straight into the waterfarm and fill in around it with hydroton or whatever medium your using. the netpot shouldnt inhibit new root growth, so why disturb it...just an idea.

I think the net pot is too big to fit in the waterfarm unfortunately :/

I was going to say the same thing, put the plant with netpot in the new system. Your other option is to cut all of the roots growing through, and put in new system. The plant will be stunted for a little while but will recover.

The best way would be to start newly rooted cuttings in your new system.

how long would it take to recover? i have a bunch of clones, i was just hoping to save some time until the first crop cause the mothers are fucking huge already

If you are going to cut the roots, and the plant is big, then cut back the foliage too. If she is in good conditions, she will start growing again within a week.

you think it would be worth trying to cut away as much of the net pot as possible to minimize what gets cut from the roots?

I keep them pretty nicely trimmed so light gets all over them, are you talking fan leaves or tops?

if you can get a clean shot at the net pot you could cut it away but be careful not to harm roots.

just take some scissors and cut the net pot off. it may take a little while but be a surgeon and remove the net pot
